Aftershow for The Valleycast - Joe vs. Conan vs. ANGRY NEW YORKERS!

The only people that hate on the Renaissance fair are Youtubers. I went a few times with friends and it was fun. It's just a themed fair. What more do you expect?

5:53 That's how I feel about stand-up comedy.
My only hope of ever enjoying it is if Steve got into it or Brittany Broski because I feel like they would be the only two people to make me laugh at a stand-up show.

I love that The Valleyfolk boys are chill with their different opinions 🧑 #NotEverythingIsForEveryone

19:03 Yeah that sucks.
I was thinking if any sci-fi story had seen that coming. If the stories with A.I. doing art, movies and music so the artists protest and boycott anything made by them. But I can't think of any older sci-fi stories having that.

Most sci-fi stories only talk about using A.I. to replace assistants or robots replacing a lot of working-class jobs.

19:27 No shit, Kevin.

I paused the podcast and watched the episode they talk about and it wasn't as funny as I thought it would be.... But I've never seen Hot Ones so many I should've started with another episode first to compare it to this one. Also, I didn't really know who Conan O'Brien was lol I can see you rolling your eyes, Reader.

He seems cool but I think the boys are funnier 🀷 I didn't grow up watching other comedians and their talk shows. I knew of them but comedy wasn't in my world. Videogames and music was. Sourcefed people and Brittany Broski are the only comedians I'm a fan of.

Hopefully this explanation shows you why I didn't find it as funny as Kevin and Joe did. I did like the doctor character coming in and joking with him. Loved that!

I cringed at the part where the host says it's a bit and Conan is yelling that it's not a bit and the host has to agree with him. It's easy to control the show when you yell over a host that wont challenge you.

Brittany Broski was funnier on Hot Ones πŸ’…

Every show Brittany has been interviewed on she has controlled the show without having to disagree with the hosts bit to make it her own. She adds to their jokes to make it her own. She becomes friends with them on their show.

Brittany is my Conan O'Brien. I look up to Brittany and she's younger than me! I just really respect her and hope one day I can meet her and tell her that she is my favorite comedian.

I love Steve, he has been my favorite comedian since Sourcefed (and I've watching his older stuff on his channel) but once I discovered Brittany around a year ago, she was on the same level with Steve for me immediately.

Until this year, I can say, she's number one.

Never thought I would find anyone funnier than Steve but he's still just right under Brittany. They are both the funniest people in the world to me

Anyway, my dream is for Brittany to enter The EZU. The only connections are Grace and Brittany were guests on the same podcast! And Brittany is a fan of Joeʹ٪ΠI got so happy hearing her say his name!

Thank you for telling people to comment, Joe. I think it's good to get the fans to be more active. Show them you care about them still listening.

Also, thank you for sharing that news update, Joe <3 I seen someone comment that politics are "boring" but they don't find it boring! They're just mad that your politics don't match theirs.

Make people uncomfortable when they listen to your show if they are going to be on the wrong side of history πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Unofficial aftershow for the official AFTERSHOW: Bees

I was a fan since SourceFed and was excited hearing about Cloverfeels, Dynamic Banter and It Feels Like The First Time because I love Steve Zaragoza. But I was just a lurker and I'm sick of being one.

I agree with the quote, "Be critical of the media you love." I'm going to be critical for selfish reasons because that's what being a fan is all about! Like, nitpicking a series you love.

I've already started some "aftershow" posts of DB and The Valleyfolk in December, but now I feel like relistening to Talkin' Banter.

I enjoyed finding Owlbynight's blog (and relating to his feelings on Steve).

1:30 Owen's voice is much more soothing than Kevins so it is a shame Owen doesn't want to be apart of the show as much Kevin does. I love listening to Owen talk. Brett's voice is hot too.

I love erotic audios, so I'm drawn to the sound of someone's voice. I don't get suddenly turned on but it is an immediate attraction to whoever is speaking. Like, seeing hot people in movies, you don't get horny on the spot but it's still nice watching them. So, Owen and Brett's voices are nice to hear.

7:56 That must have felt so good to get that complement from Owen. (The Snapchat video he's talking about.)

10:14-11:20 Say it louder for Kevin in the back!
There's no "worry" that they will forget what they were talking about because Kevin makes sure the boys stay on track now. There's no "worry" that they will talk about a topic incorrectly because Kevin will look up the information. DB loses the magic of forgetting about topics because of a long bit and DB loses episodes where they "bungled it."

Anyway, it's sweet how much Owen loves them. I hope that when Mike and Steve listened, they had the biggest smiles on their faces. He's their friend but he sounds like a fan in that moment 🧑

I love Talkin' Banter so much for giving us a peek into their friendship.

15:40 Owen liked Ryan before they became friends!
Ryan is closer to Owen's vibe while Kevin is closer to Steve's. But "Kevin is the new Steve" doesn't fit because DB doesn't need a new Steve, so they feel the need to compare him to Owen πŸ™„

19:40 They haven't heard Mike's music yet.
I have 3 songs of his in a playlist on Spotify.

20:52 - 21:52 I agree with Owen.

24:51 He was in high school in 1996, I'm guessing as a Freshmen.
I didn't know there were so many Mormons in Phoenix until my Junior year, 2007. My cousin went to the same high school as me and became obsessed with a boy there and found out he was Mormon. She became interested in that religion just for him.

She brought that world into our lives πŸ˜’ Her mom became a Mormon then my mom did, for a while. Then my best friend (who was also her best friend) was looking into it but never joined. (Yay!) I was dragged to go to a few Mormon events but I was loyal (lol) to staying Catholic. (I'm not Catholic anymore but I still believe in God, just not in any religion.)

It was good at least, to learn about them even if I didn't agree with them. I liked feeling like my world got bigger and made me really want to leave Arizona and travel.

I got to go to Japan because it was with the school. If you take Japanese for 3 years, you can go to Japan during the summer.

I also got to visit California with the school by joining the "Asian Studies Club." All we did was sell ramen during lunch time in that club. $1 a cup. If we each worked during lunch a number of times, then we got to go on the trip. It was a weird club because I don't remember studying anything... It was just a place to hangout with people who liked anime.

The teachers in charge of that club were smart. Got a free vacation every year because of over priced ramen πŸ˜‚ but kids bought them. There was always a line, especially during winter.

(I'm on the left end, standing up.)

California and Japan with no parents, just my friends? I do feel lucky as fuck for being able to experience that.

Then I got to have a taste of camping with the school by joining a club(?) called "Bobcat Town." I only went one year and they only took kids who haven't been before so no one got to go a second time. We were told not to talk about it and the secret made kids interested to sign up.

My friendship with my best friend became stronger. We were put into small groups by random. We got sad and said goodbye to each other but we ended up being in the same group! Other friends got split up that we felt so lucky. We didn't say shit just in case the adults would change us out if they knew.

The food was so good! I remember that very well. It was shocking how good it was. And our cabins were really cute and cozy. And it was the first time I got to play in snow.

Okay, so it was revealed that this camp was group therapy. We talked about race, gender role stereotypes, sexual orientation, religion, cultures, and our past and home life.

My friend and I talked about things that we didn't know about each other and stuff we might not have shared if it wasn't for this club (it was a three day thing). It pushed us to share our family dramas and it made sense why they didn't want close friends in the same group. People shared personal stories more easily with strangers. I'm glad it made us closer instead of adding an awkwardness between us.

And that is why they don't want us telling anyone at school what Bobcat Town is. They said if kids knew it was heavy stuff then they wont want to come. They're right. If I heard that, I wouldn't have signed up.

If it rubs you the wrong way to know that adults tricked teens into getting therapy, just know that I'm glad I experienced it. But it was a risk making kids share trauma they aren't prepared to talk about. So, I wouldn't recommend it.

(Red is me and blue is my friend. The boring shirts they gave us on the last day.)

Anyway, I've also been to New York twice for Comic-con but that was only thanks to my aunt who paid for my plain tickets and my mom paid her back with payments.

(2013)

(2014)

I visited California again, for Anime Expo around 2011 (I think.) with my best friend but I guess we didn't take any pictures because I can't find any....

And now I live in West Virginia. I'm so happy to be so far from home. $425 a month for rent, in a house! I'm never leaving the countryside.

(Bye bye, Phoenix heat.)

It's fun reliving and sharing my "History Road."

Owen says he grew up religious. I wonder how his family responded to him becoming an atheist. Was it easy to lose faith or did he struggle with it?

Not following Christian rules as been a struggle for my mom to accept. She's the only person in my life that bugs me about it. Everyone else leaves me alone, they don't "poke" at the topic with me.

I wonder how it was with Steve and his family. I love how much his mom supports him and watches everything he's in.

29:46 I never had to go to a "church sleepover." Or any church event.

Other than my mom pushing us to go to church every Sunday, that was pretty much it. (Until my cousin became Mormon when I was 17). I'm so glad to have had a fun childhood where I could hangout wherever and with whoever I wanted to.

But Owen seeing the movie, Spaceballs at one, makes it seem like church sleepovers weren't that boring. Good for him.

I do remember my first communion because my dad actually went to that.
But other than that, Sunday church was the only thing.

My mom became strict once I turned 16 and started calling rock music, "evil." So, that was fun because almost every CD I owned was rock πŸ™ƒ

30:08 My first R-rated movie was A Nightmare on Elm Street or Halloween. I loved watching scary movies with others. My friends, cousins and aunts would scream and it made me laugh and feel brave that I never screamed. (I jumped though!)

I was never interested nor "sexually awakened" by sex scenes. I always skipped them or muted the tv. So, what did it for me was when I was the only one up late watching random channels and seeing a Girls Gone Wild commercial. I was imagining myself in their shoes, being wanted by guys. I wasn't attracted to the girls, they were "self-inserts" for me.

(I know Owen didn't expand more on seeing a sex scene for the first time but him just saying that made me think up my memory of seeing GGW.) But other than that, I never cared about sex scenes.

I did have cartoon character crushes though. Like, Sideburn from Transformers RID πŸ˜‚

She gets me.

Cars are sexy 🀷

I loved going to the movies and sneaking into other rooms to see another. I always loved seeing two for the price of one. It made the money worth it and it helped pass the time during the summer. I hated being out in that fucking sun. I loved walking around Phoenix at night.

I loved seeing Pokemon on the big screen and getting a Ancient Mew card. The next time I visit Arizona, I should bring my card collection back with me. I feel like looking at them but I'm nervous to ask my mom to ship it to me. It would suck if it got lost or damaged on it's way over.

For my 10th birthday, my parents made it Pokemon themed πŸ₯³

(2000)

37:42 I bonded with my dad on movies too. My mom could watch horror and action but it wasn't her favorite. My brother hated horror, didn't even stay in the room to watch.

40:08 I love how excited Owen is about doing an aftershow. He wanted to continue doing Talkin' Banter until that fucking negative email in episode 13.

I know he would've quit sooner or later because the podcast about Lost was draining him but he wouldn't have given up that instantly if all they got was positive emails.

That bitch took something awesome from the EZU and DB fandom that we'll never get back 😭

41:56 I have been watching and listening to everything. Owen is saying to do that as a joke. I'm doing it for real since the start of winter.

Other people that I've become a fan of on Youtube, I usually slow down with watching their stuff but I haven't with Steve's content. Since SourceFed, I've kept up with all his stuff. His vibe is nerdy "feel-good" and hilarious. It's really cool to find someone who has a kind heart and who is very funny. He's the best person on the planet.

And with Owen being his best friend, Owen must be the 2nd best person on the planet.

Anyway, thanks for reading.

Aftershow for Dynamic Banter - The 400th Episode Extravaganza!

(I was sad about this episode and I explain why but for my future self, and anyone reading, let's lighten the mood right off the bat by turning this into a drinking game. Take a shot every time the words, cheap and lazy show up.)

They call different guests..."yay" for bad audio from the phone calls πŸ˜‘

Why couldn't they just be there in person? Not all in one episode but a whole month (or more) of guests on every episode for a real celebration.

Let's Get Haunted had guests on for two months and as a "Halloween special" they did extra short episodes called, "What's Haunting You?" That took so much more work because they were meeting the guests for the first time themselves and the girls had to research topics for each episode. They made time to meet them off the podcast and on just to see if the vibe was right to collab with.

They are such hard workers. And they are a smaller podcast. I was expecting more work to be put into it from Steve and Mike. They have more Patreons and more help so I don't get why this episode was the best they could come up with to celebrate 400 episodes.

At least have Owen there in person to play on the keyboard for History Road. Or have Bree and DJ there to help with getting more people supporting the movie he's trying to make. Just something that isn't "Lets call our friends and asked how they feel about us having 400 episodes! Also, they can't hear the soundboard or see us so they can't fully joke along with us. It'll be good enough."

It's not. I love this podcast but this is really lazy. If Let's Get Haunted can work hard in a week to record so many episodes for the month and be funny, then so should the boys. The only hard part the boys had to do was hold the phone up to the microphone.

They should have an easier time because they can be in the same room. The girls can't, but that didn't stop them from making good fucking episodes.

DifferentπŸ‘GuestsπŸ‘EveryπŸ‘WeekπŸ‘ForπŸ‘TwoπŸ‘MonthsπŸ‘(or more!)

I really feel Nat and Aly's gratitude and love for our Patreon support. While I just felt the laziness from DB because they "planned" this shit in a week.

(Nat and Aly would have kept track of the number 400 and recorded guest episodes early. Having each of the guests in the episodes from start to finish. And that's exactly what they did.)

A special return of the Talkin' Banter would have been better. If the 400th episode was just Owen and Brett talking about episode 399. And 401 was Steve and Mike doing the episode like 400 never happened.

That would have been so fucking funny and fun! A good inside joke for the hardcore DB fans.

Or if Owen didn't want to be on camera, just have Brett and Chris with Owen off camera/off mic, adding to the conversation. Two inside jokes in one episode.

Whatever, I guess that's what fans are for. The fans think up all the good shit that could happen and write fanfictions (or blog posts), do sketches, or make fanart of the ideas.

The boys are so funny but so lazy. They've seen the episode numbers. They had so much time to get ready to plan something and choose to wait for the last week to think. And all they came up with is phone calls.

I'm not a hater or a troll, I'm just disappointed at the moment. By next week, I'll have "fangirl mode" on full force again. I'm not a mindless fan. I need time to get over this sour feeling and this blog helps. It's better than leaving a comment on their video or a post on Reddit, right?

If they didn't have a Patreon I would expect just phone calls but they do and I wanted more love put into it.

Lets Get Haunted post extra shit on their Patreon like Vlogs, gaming and cooking videos. Pictures and blog posts. They make it feel like a fun nerdy club that is worth paying for.

The girls don't just post extended podcast episodes on there.

2:24 "big big show"
They even point out that it doesn't seem that special. They know how cheap this is yet aren't sorry about it.

The bit of how big the celebration is goes on and on. I'd rather they just acted like this was just a normal episode because this is just annoying. Just reminding fans how they didn't plan much for this.

Maybe this episode seems more exciting to audio only listeners?

I know for a fact that the DB fans would hate this blog post πŸ˜… Stan culture sucks. They wont let fans criticize the boys or Kevin because "true fans" accept and support DB no matter what:

(Even if you love Kevin, you have to know this is true. They were downvoted for pointing out this fact.)

4:07 They go into the technical difficulties bit πŸ‘Œ

11:16 First call is Ryan... I like Ryan but he started out as a fan, like Kevin. So, him being a guest is so lackluster... Why not just call people who have been their friend from the start? Joe and Elliott? Give The Valleyfolk podcast a shout out so the fans who only know of DB can learn of The Valleycast. If they love Steve, they will love him on other podcasts too.

I know their friend group thinks that The Valleycast isn't worth listening to but it fucking is. Joe and Elliott are hilarious. On or off Zoom.
Plus, it's the fucking podcast they choose to promote Gunplay.

Yes, Ryan has been a big part of the show so why not have him on a full episode? Suck it up and have him on Zoom or do another VR episode.

20:44 Second call is Harley.
Who I don't know because I don't watch his content. I only know him from the few times they called him before. Why not call people from SourceFed? Where's Will? Sam? Candace? Reina? Steven? Trisha Hershberger? People who DB fans will most likely know of and if they don't, they'll be interested in checking out because both Steve and Mike were on SourceFed too.

Harley is a mystery to me. It sucks that Steve picked him to call just because he's playing Fortnite with him a lot. His Fortnite crew? Really?

The chaos of a lot of guests would be funny if this was planned for weeks. But it's chaotic because they were lazy. It sucks how rushed this all feels.

I love Malcolm's response to Steve calling what they are doing on the podcast "work"

Yes, podcasting is work but look at the context of what they have to do for work and what others have to do. My husband works at 12pm and has to deal with the general public. So, if we lived near Mike's place and at 10am they were screaming into a microphone, they would wake my husband up early and call it important because it's "work."

Malcolm asks who's their favorite guests and they can't even name one. "We don't have many guests" Seriously? Will and Nic? Owen?  The fact that they weren't prepared for that question is wild.

Third call is Whitney, after they read the Ads.
I usually hate dream talk too but this could've lead into some funny jokes if she was the only guest.

52:17 Forth call is Felicia πŸ™ƒ
Combine everything I said about Ryan with Harley and that's her.

I think calling fans from their Patreon would've been better. It would actually be interesting because each fan would be prepared for the call and talk about their favorite moments.

56:47 This is a weird way to show it, Mike. Learn from Let's Get Haunted on how to show your love and hard work to fans next time.

Malcolm asks them when did they start the show, right after Mike says "400 was a important number to us" and they both can't even answer it. They have Kevin look it up. How are they not prepared for that question?

1:03:56 History Road from Nic Hamilton because they couldn't call him.

1:08:47 Fifth call is "Sally" who they once had on the show before. This bit would've been funny if it wasn't in this episode. We could spent more time talking to Malcolm but no. Let's make him hear this inside joke.

1:20:00 fans from the DB discord stepping up to really show the fucking love. Maybe if the boys wanted to not think about the 400th episode until the week of, they could've just read History Roads. Because we fans know how to really nerd out on the shit we love.

The fans have made DB very funny. From sending in clips, videos, music, gifts, stories and bits. Fans helped form this podcast.

The boys wanted to end the show not knowing that someone else was going to call. Are you kidding me? How can any fan reading this, think I'm being bratty? This "extravaganza" is rushed.

This is cheaper than the Zoom episodes because we know they worked hard to get the sounds to be as clear as possible during that time. This is just lazy with guests who don't get a full hour to be on the episode.

1:25:37 Owen is the sixth caller.
Owen seemed nervous that he didn't have a favorite moment thought up and had to think fast. But it's all okay, Owen. Because the rest of the episode has been a let down. Nothing you can do would make it worse. If anything, the fact that you care makes it better and worth getting to this point just to hear your phone call. πŸ§‘

1:31:31 Chris is the Seventh caller.
I LOVED that Malcolm was reading old stuff Chris worked on. And I love finding out that he still listens to every episode, like Owen. Their support for their friends is so sweet.

Thank you, Owen, Chris and Malcolm for making this episode worth listening to. What both Owen and Chris had to say about the show was very nice and adorable!

I'll end by reminding whoever is reading this that I still love Mike and Steve. I wanted some thought put into this episode like the thought they put into their awesome merch.

Next week I'll be in better spirits. I know now to not be over hyped for DB episodes and Patreon content. Fans should just be okay, with a rare, extra long DB episode πŸ‘

Aftershow for DB - Can You Smoke Piss Ep. 399

3:00 Funny bit.

6:17 Funny bit returns.

10:40 Reptilian Conspiracy.

20:00 Steve starts talking about Poor Things.
I've never seen that movie so I paused the podcast to go watch it and....I got 15 minutes in and stopped. It's not for me.

Did she not like Alana? πŸ‘€ I'm thinking this because why would Steve bring up showing his dates to her unless she didn't like someone he was dating in the past?
I'm being a nosy fan. Sorry!

28:55 Funny bit.

37:47 Sleep standing up?
Them calling fans will always make me uncomfortable and I know, that's something I have to learn to get over. They were fanboying big time and I get it, I might do that too if I ever got a call from Steve but it was hard to listen to lol

52:27 They're asking for fans to film themselves explaining what the show is.
I hope someone sends in a video of them saying, "It's a comedy podcast" and the person says, "Cool, I'll check it out" then the video ends.

It's not incorrect to just say it's a comedy, it's an accurate description. It's either going to be their type of comedy or it isn't.

With Steve and Brittany Broski being the funniest people in the world to me, I still explain their shows as comedy. It's not more complicated than that just because they're my favs.

They ask what fans would want for a 400th episode.
Here's what I would love:

I miss getting inside information into their friendship. And I miss Brett and Owen!

54:50 History Road.

I loved the Pearl Jam themed song.

I wonder if this little version of the "DB or Not DB" made Owen happy.

I'm upset they ignored our comments last week. We know they read them and now it seems like they just rolled their eyes instead of hearing us.

Fans even said that they love the boys, just because Mike's comments rubbed them the wrong way, doesn't change that. We know at their core, they are good people. So, it's frustrating they ignored our comments but will talk about the comments mentioning the new intro song. In two different episodes.

They can't think, "fans should know us better than that" and "fans will never really know us."  Which is it?

I loved that during the BLM movement, Steve said that Dynamic Banter was 50% his so he wants to talk about the movement because it's too important to act like it's not happening. It's important for fans to know that they're more than just sarcasm and fart jokes.

I only know Mike from what he shares on DB, I don't follow his other content. If someone only knew Steve from DB, they would at least know, Steve's heart is in the right place. So, it's thanks to Steve that I know Mike's heart is too because Steve talks about Mike outside of DB

Anyway, when is Bree going on the podcast again? She's funny as fuck.
