Summer 2020

Watchmen Rewatch

Watching this with my husband was so amazing. I loved seeing his reactions and hearing his thoughts about this show. It's so good! If there's another season I hope I love it just as much.

The Wire

I got HBO for the first time and seen this show was on there and decided to finally watch it. I love Breaking Bad so much and heard from a lot of people that The Wire inspired it. I did enjoy it over all and totally get why people say it's one of the best shows ever. But it was kinda a slow burn for me. I loved the first season and was kinda disappointed that the other seasons hardly kept that same vibe for me.

I'm so happy to know that Omar exists. Totally worth watching this show just for this character. I don't think I'll watch the show again anytime soon but I will watch clips of Omar on Youtube a lot.

Aggretsuko season 3

This is my new favorite anime at the moment. I wish other romance anime was like this one. I hope they at least take notes because Aggretsuko is very good at showing how complicated relationships can be. It's not the same bullshit drama other romance anime continues to do. These characters actually grow and have hard conversations and realizations. Plus, it has good comedic moments that don't seem childish and out of place. The only thing bad about this show is the episodes are only 15 minutes and there's only 10 episodes. I'm excited for season 4.

The Signal (spoilers)

I love the idea I read online about the characters being in a computer because of some clues that things didn't load right or at all if it wasn't expecting the boy to go there. Like, the toilets not having wall separators, the clock not working, the road not being finished and food not being in cans.

Also, his friends never existing but being loaded from his memories and thoughts of what he thinks happened to his friends. So, that's why his friend survives the explosion and a shot to the back and why the men try to keep his arm on the bed when he's trying to reach for his girlfriend's hand. She's not really there.

Or he could have just been taken to a different planet but I like the idea that he's inside a computer more because I love AI shit so much.

The Night Clerk (mid spoilers)

I enjoyed how smart this character really is. That ending was such a good way to show us that he was one step ahead the whole time.

Transformers War for Cybertron

I love this series so much. There's more female Transformer characters in this one than their are in other Transformers shows. So, I hope the next season adds more females because it really needs it anyway. There's only 3... Come on now!

The Witcher books

Loved it.

The only thing I hated was Geralt having sex with a 17 year old girl. Fuck the creator for that. It's like he was thinking, "This is a world where magic, monsters, and elves exists but I want to make sure the story's views the treatment of girls are historically accurate so I can justify my male characters having sex with teens."
Fuck you.

Vampyr

This game was such a prize. I'm shocked that I didn't hear much about it. The story and characters are so good and well written. I think because of the graphics that it looks like it's just an okay game. But the music and camera shots did really well adding to dramatic scenes.

I could see this being a good TV show or movie for sure.

After Party

I loved this game. It's so funny and after watching Lucifer on Netflix, i felt like it had the same feel. This game was such a joy to play.

Gris

Very relaxing game and very pretty.

Journey

Finally got to play this and it was just okay. I should have played this when it just came out to really enjoy it for it's time. But I'm still happy I played it.

The Long Dark

This game had a cute update. It added Canadian snacks. Plus, there was a temporally a harder winter mode. I beat it and it was fun. Can't wait for episode 4 to come out too.

Breath of the Wild

Another game I'm finally getting to play. It's good but I'm finding it hard to play it for hours like I can with other games. I only play for like an hour then stop for the day. I have no idea why I can't play it longer. Maybe because the story isn't that interesting or because I can't keep using the weapons forever. I don't know but it is fun in short bursts.

Persona 5

This game started off strong but I started to not enjoy it after their upperclassmen joined the team. The story went down hill from there because I found her character so annoying from the start. And I didn't like how the story tried to make her seem so much smarter than everyone else when she just gave commonsense advice and plans. Plus, Mona wont shut up.

Lucifer season 5

It was great seeing the main character again. The rest of the show is shit tho. Bad writing and bad acting from other characters. Lucifer's character is the only reason I keep watching.

Working Out

I feel good about doing this. It's been 3 weeks now and I hope I don't give up. I thought about doing a before and after picture but I hate my body right now that I can't stand taking a picture of it.

Bad Stuff

The Last Of Us Part 2 - I did a whole blog post about this game so read that if you want to know why I hated this 5 out of 5 game. I'm still hurt about what this game gave me.

Blue Reflection - This game is $60 but looks so much cheaper than Persona 5, which was a $20 game. Such a let down. I'm glad I got it on sale but I still feel like I over paid.

Spring 2020

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

I'm glad it got so popular that people who thought it seemed boring, tried it out after hearing about it so much and ended up loving it. I always get annoyed with gamers not giving games like Animal Crossing a chance.

Scrubs podcast

I'm so happy this exists! The two main actors are actually good friends and are talking about their time on Scrubs. They're rewatching the show one ep at a time and it's so funny!

Control

I finally got to own this game and play it myself. I watched a full playthrough when I couldn't afford it and I loved it. Playing it has made me love it even more. It's really fucking fun to play and I love the main character so much. I played the DLC and I love how she's become so cocky about how powerful she is. I can't wait for more.

Observation

All I knew about this game is that there's a woman who teams up with an AI. I had no idea I played as the AI! I was so happy! Plus, this game ended up being really good, story wise. I loved the ending. I need more games like this, please!

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

I'm still playing through it but so far it's really fun and I like my female character. I've never played an Assassin's Creed game but when I seen it on sale and seen that I can choose to be a female throughout the whole game, I just had to get it.
I love too that you can romance everyone that the game lets you and it's not exclusive to one character. You can have multiple lovers without them getting mad because they never find out.

I wish other games did that, because the only other games I can think of that comes close is Mass Effect Andromeda. You can romance a reporter and a historian without it conflicting with your main romantic interest.  I need more games to give us secret lovers, please.

Better Call Saul season 5

The first series where I paid to own it digitally. I just really wanted to marathon this show and seen it was on sale in the Playstation store, just needed to get it then and there. It's during a stressful time and I needed another distraction from the world.
I really loved this season! Can't wait for season 6!

Never Have I Ever

This show was a nice treat, its so funny! The adults are funnier than the kids but still worth a watch. The mom is my favorite character, so funny! I hope season 2 holds up when it comes out.
Also, the music in this show is so good.

The Leftovers rewatch

First Time Show podcast is back! I'm so happy to be watching The Leftovers with them.
I just wish one of the hosts would chill out. They're too negative about the show and it's annoying. Other than that, I am enjoying the podcast.

Spring cleaning

My place was becoming a mess and I finally got into the mood of organizing stuff and my place feels so much bigger. I still have more to clean but it's looking good and it makes me feel better seeing it so nice and neat.

Indie games

I finally got to play some indie games I had in my library:

Celeste - I LOVED that this game had "god mode" I got to just enjoy the story without having to solve puzzles and dying over and over. More side scrollers should have in game cheats as an option to make the game feel relaxing.

Mutazione - This was a really interesting game. I loved getting to know the history of the island and the people on it. And having choices on how to respond to characters was fun. I do think this game was longer than it needed to be but I still would recommend this game to others.

A Short Hike - This felt like a short Zelda game. The main story is to climb a mountain to make a phone call but you can explore around and solve little quests for characters. It was really cute and relaxing.

Unravel - I've been wanting to play this game for a long time and finally got to when I seen it on sale. It was so good at making me not think about the world. My favorite levels were snowy ones.

Bad Stuff

Virus - people just being fucking selfish and not staying away from crowds and not wearing masks. White people even went out to protest, with guns, against wearing masks and having to stay home. Fuck people.

Cops killing people - And people are still on the side of the cops. I'm sick of this. I had conversations with friends and family and it's stressful. Fuck tone policing.

Other bad stuff are not as big as the two I wrote about above but here they are:

Dead To Me season 2 - It tried too hard to fit in the funny moments while I felt like season 1 did a better job at picking moments to be funny.

Spinning Out - Started out strong then it gets cheesy at the end.

Outlander Season 4 and 5 - Too much rape and war. Think of something different for fucks sake!

Winter 2019-2020

Pen15

Usually the first episodes of comedy series aren't that good but Pen15's first episode is one of my favorites. It's so good!

This show reminds me of how close I used to be with one of my cousins. Or how close I was with my white friends in grade school. I love reliving those good memories with this show.

Life is Strange 2 (spoilers)

I love the "evil" ending. It's such a good reward for going through all the bad stuff. They end up together and free. I'm so glad the game made the best ending possible only by being selfish.

Titanfall 2

I LOVE the mech partner so much! I love when robots sound and talk like robots and not try to sound human. I don't know anything about the Titanfall world but I want to learn now thanks to the talking mech.

Resident Evil 2

This game is so fun! Just kind of disappointed the dialogue still sucks. Oh well, I guess Resident Evil games will always have cheesy lines. I think I'm the only person bothered by it. I just want good dialogue with good voice acting in games now.

Monster Hunter World

Now that I got the Ciri layered armor I'm having so much fun playing this game again! I loved The Witcher 3 so being able to play the two main characters in Monster Hunter has made the game exciting again.

The Surge

I wish I had played this game sooner! The world is so much more interesting to me than Dark Souls, Sekiro and Bloodborne. I'm comparing it to them because the game play is similar. Can't wait to try out the 2nd game!

El Camino

I loved the Breaking Bad movie. Love the drama, tension and suspense.

You Season 2

I loved the twist! I need more Yandere males as main characters.
So happy there's going to be a season 3!

Here's some posts explaining why I think season 2 was so good (spoilers):

Watchmen

I usually don't care about superhero stuff but I'm glad my favorite podcast started talking about this show to get me to check it out! I loved it! I didn't believe in the love story but other than that I thought it was perfect.

I don't need a season 2 but if another season did happen, I'd be excited.

The Division 2

Got this game on sale for $3. It's so fun playing solo. I love all the echos and audios you can find around the map. Such emotional stories. Love it.

Disco Elysium

My game of the year for 2019 is Control but I wouldn't be mad if this game had won it instead. It's really funny and the plot is interesting. I'm in love with the two main characters.

Alexa

I like asking her to sing or tell me a story. It's cute.
Her whisper mode is great too.

Mass Effect Andromeda: Annihilation

I can't believe it took me so long to read this but I didn't want the series to end and it kind of feels like they wont continue Andromeda anymore. Or at least, not for a really long time because too many fans bitched.

Anyways, I loved reading this and learning a bit more about the other races. And having a depressing feeling throughout the book for these characters. I like when series makes me feel sad sometimes and this was one of those times. It's a very depressing book so people have to be in the mood for that before reading it.

The Wither: The Last Wish

I was really nervous to start reading the book series because I love my version of Geralt in the game. But it turns out that he's the same in the book! So, I loved it.

I heard people saying that the book is too slow for them but I love the slowness. I love drama more than action. I love getting to know how Geralt is and how he thinks now that I know I like cannon Geralt. I like how he asks so many questions and how friendly he is. And how much he cares for his friends.

Bad stuff

The Witcher Netflix series was very disappointing. I read the book to get ready for the show. I didn't watch the trailers because I knew I was going to watch the show anyways.

I hate Geralt's personality in the show. The stereotypical strong, angry, silent type. That's what I was worried he would be like in the book. Hopefully he's more friendly in season 2 now that he has to learn to be a father.

I don't know why he couldn't have his best friend. Instead they are strangers and he's annoyed by the company. Just...why? "It's not mainly to love your friends!" Ugh. There's more I hated about it but I don't feel like getting into it.

I am glad it exists though. Getting a new game and made more people check out the games and books.

13 Reasons Why season 3 was so fucking boring. I ended up skipping to the end. I think it was very fucking stupid to try and humanize the rapists. Just no.

Outlander season 3 was just more stressful and frustrating than enjoyable. I did like how it ended so I'm interested in checking out season 4 at least.

Also, we hardly got any snow this winter so that sucked.

Fall 2019

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

This game was a very nice surprise! I didn't know anything about it when I started playing but the gameplay was really fun. I didn't get into the story until halfway into it then I was hooked! After I beat the game I started it again now knowing the story and characters better.

I want to check out the older games and the novels now!

Adam Jensen's voice is how I wish Geralt from The Witcher games sounded like. Because to me, Geralt's voice sounds so forced and fake while Adam's voice sounds more natural as a "tough guy" voice.

I kept thinking about Geralt while I was playing this game because Adam is treated like a freak because he is augmented and has lots of implants. And Adam is one of the very few who can handle augments no problem while everyone else has to have their bodies get used to it. It does make him more rare in his world than Geralt is in his. But it's close as to show that their bodies can handle more pain than others could.

(Also, I'm still really obsessed with The Witcher as much as I am with Mass Effect so any new series I get into, I'll be looking for anything to remind me of them.)

Overwatch 2

I am so excited for a new Overwatch game! I know a lot of hardcore players are upset or tired of the game but I'm not. I only play quick play and arcade mode, so I actually have fun with the game. Anything new they add to it will make me so happy.

The only thing that sucks is there's no release date yet...

The Walking Dead Season 10

I still really love this series. I hope it keeps going with way more seasons. I really love the character development that's happening to a character I used to hate. Now they're one of my favorites.
I love Rick's daughter so much, she's such a cute, little badass. She smart and friendly, I hope to see her grow into a main character.

I don't talk about this show with anyone because I feel like everyone hates the show but me.
Can't wait to see what happens the rest of the season!

Control

I watched my favorite streamer, Trisha Hershberger do a full playthrough of this game. She read all the notes she found and paid attention while characters were talking and paused if someone in the chat wanted her attention. She does such good playthroughs of story based games that I fucking wish other streamers would do. It's so annoying when people play a game for the first time but don't pay attention because they are too busy trying to be funny for their chat. And most times, other streamers don't bother reading notes or doing side missions then complain if the game was too short or didn't explain the lore that well.
More streamers should be like Trisha.

I really love this game! It's my game of the year for sure! The story is so strange in a way that catches your interest that makes you want to understand it. And you do understand the world by piecing the story pieces together. The game doesn't treat you like a child. If you don't understand then too bad. You either have to reply it and think about it or go online to have fans explain it to you, which is how it should be. But it should be easy to understand if you're a big sci-fi fan.

The characters are well written and awkward/weird in a realistic way that doesn't make you cringe. It just makes you smile.

The game's unique monsters are so interesting and creepy. There are different ways to defeat each one. It's so fun gaining new powers to use on them.

The game doesn't just stay as a shooter, it makes you want to use your powers more than just using you're shape shifting gun.

The building shape shifts too that it's easy to notice the great level design the game has.
This game isn't straight up horror but it is still very creepy. Throughout the game, you can hear whispers and chanting. And you can see dead bodies floating around the offices.

It even has a very satisfying ending that also makes you excited for a next game.
This game was perfect. It deserves more love.

The bad stuff

Death Stranding was a big disappointment for me because I thought I was going to like it. It treats players like children by spelling out the metaphors and over explaining shit. It's like a Visual Novel. I hate them because they are so verbose and I hate Death Stranding for this same reason.

I also hate the characters, they are all so annoying because they all want to be best friends with Sam and come off as really cringy.
Making every character an open book is such a lazy way of giving us their backstory. Sometimes it's okay for only the players to know something about a character that other characters will never know. Characters don't have to be so fucking nosy and know every little thing about each other to be close friends.

Kojima thinks the main reason most Americans don't like his game is because it's not a shooter or that it's "hard for Americans to understand". Well, I'm telling you, the real reason is because the writing and character development is really bad.
Also, it's not hard to understand this game at all because the characters force the info down our throats. There's no need to even use our brains to think about it, the characters tell us all the thoughts we should be having. Over and over and over again. Characters repeat the plot so much that the only way someone wouldn't understand this game is if they had it on mute and closed their eyes until the cutscene was over.

I wish this were a quiet game. It acts like it's such a dead world but Sam is never left alone. Someone always has to fucking call him with common sense information. The only reason I finished this game was because I liked the game play. Anytime I had to finish a delivery though, was hell. Just please accept the quest without having to thank Sam and tell him how he's doing a good thing every time I hand something over.

I liked cutscenes with no dialogue and just showed creepy stuff but sadly the game doesn't keep to this style. It goes right back to "Lets connect America and make friends!"

The ending was so long and boring.
Fuck those annoying emails infested with emojis.
Fuck all the character's names.
Fuck the forced funny moments that just don't fit at all.
Fuck puns.

Control is a better unique, creepy and mysterious game but it was overshadowed because Kojima has bigger actors in his game and fanboys that will defend his writing with their lives.
"Don't say in 100 words what can be said in 10."

The other thing that sucked this season was Lee Newton being fired from The Valleyfolk. It really sucks finding out that a friendship wasn't that great as it looked. It's SourceFed all over again. It seemed like such a fun job but after everyone got fired, the hosts all started saying how stressful it actually was and that so much of their jokes were edited out of videos. And they were limited in how creative they could really be.

I was so confused and angry but I'm glad the boys explained themselves a lot better about this choice. I hope the boys continue to be close and hopefully become friends with Lee and her husband again in the future.
