Spring 2020

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

I'm glad it got so popular that people who thought it seemed boring, tried it out after hearing about it so much and ended up loving it. I always get annoyed with gamers not giving games like Animal Crossing a chance.

Scrubs podcast

I'm so happy this exists! The two main actors are actually good friends and are talking about their time on Scrubs. They're rewatching the show one ep at a time and it's so funny!

Control

I finally got to own this game and play it myself. I watched a full playthrough when I couldn't afford it and I loved it. Playing it has made me love it even more. It's really fucking fun to play and I love the main character so much. I played the DLC and I love how she's become so cocky about how powerful she is. I can't wait for more.

Observation

All I knew about this game is that there's a woman who teams up with an AI. I had no idea I played as the AI! I was so happy! Plus, this game ended up being really good, story wise. I loved the ending. I need more games like this, please!

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

I'm still playing through it but so far it's really fun and I like my female character. I've never played an Assassin's Creed game but when I seen it on sale and seen that I can choose to be a female throughout the whole game, I just had to get it.
I love too that you can romance everyone that the game lets you and it's not exclusive to one character. You can have multiple lovers without them getting mad because they never find out.

I wish other games did that, because the only other games I can think of that comes close is Mass Effect Andromeda. You can romance a reporter and a historian without it conflicting with your main romantic interest.  I need more games to give us secret lovers, please.

Better Call Saul season 5

The first series where I paid to own it digitally. I just really wanted to marathon this show and seen it was on sale in the Playstation store, just needed to get it then and there. It's during a stressful time and I needed another distraction from the world.
I really loved this season! Can't wait for season 6!

Never Have I Ever

This show was a nice treat, its so funny! The adults are funnier than the kids but still worth a watch. The mom is my favorite character, so funny! I hope season 2 holds up when it comes out.
Also, the music in this show is so good.

The Leftovers rewatch

First Time Show podcast is back! I'm so happy to be watching The Leftovers with them.
I just wish one of the hosts would chill out. They're too negative about the show and it's annoying. Other than that, I am enjoying the podcast.

Spring cleaning

My place was becoming a mess and I finally got into the mood of organizing stuff and my place feels so much bigger. I still have more to clean but it's looking good and it makes me feel better seeing it so nice and neat.

Indie games

I finally got to play some indie games I had in my library:

Celeste - I LOVED that this game had "god mode" I got to just enjoy the story without having to solve puzzles and dying over and over. More side scrollers should have in game cheats as an option to make the game feel relaxing.

Mutazione - This was a really interesting game. I loved getting to know the history of the island and the people on it. And having choices on how to respond to characters was fun. I do think this game was longer than it needed to be but I still would recommend this game to others.

A Short Hike - This felt like a short Zelda game. The main story is to climb a mountain to make a phone call but you can explore around and solve little quests for characters. It was really cute and relaxing.

Unravel - I've been wanting to play this game for a long time and finally got to when I seen it on sale. It was so good at making me not think about the world. My favorite levels were snowy ones.

Bad Stuff

Virus - people just being fucking selfish and not staying away from crowds and not wearing masks. White people even went out to protest, with guns, against wearing masks and having to stay home. Fuck people.

Cops killing people - And people are still on the side of the cops. I'm sick of this. I had conversations with friends and family and it's stressful. Fuck tone policing.

Other bad stuff are not as big as the two I wrote about above but here they are:

Dead To Me season 2 - It tried too hard to fit in the funny moments while I felt like season 1 did a better job at picking moments to be funny.

Spinning Out - Started out strong then it gets cheesy at the end.

Outlander Season 4 and 5 - Too much rape and war. Think of something different for fucks sake!

Summer 2017

Favorites

The best thing about the summer was finding a place to live! I'm so happy! It's so fun decorating the place.

The ending to The Leftovers was perfect. It gives a straight forward answer but also it's open for us to decide what the answer is. I've never seen a show be able to do that very well.

I finally got a phone. So I never have to use that fucking tablet ever again. It was slow and glitchy, been that way since I got it new. May seem like a small good thing but this smartphone is a big gift, to me.

Got another PS4, the gold one, to finally play games with David. We started playing Overwatch and Paragon together.

Got into a new podcast called Last Name Basis. It's so funny! I didn't expect it to be. I thought it was a serious one so I never gave it a try until one day I was bored and decided to check out Franchesca Ramsey's podcast. I love her and her husband, Patrick.

Also, when I was bored, I checked out Westworld and loved it. Can't wait for season 2.

Started uploading my Mass Effect Andromeda videos for my mom. But I'm glad I decided to make them public since I can go back a watch them when I feel like enjoying the story again. Without having to play it or watching someone else's version of Ryder. And maybe someone who can't get the game yet will enjoy these videos and my Ryder. I don't know.
I would love to record the Mass Effect trilogy but I can't record them unless I had a good computer...

Overwatch summer games were fun! And I love the new update for Mercy. The new maps are great too!

Life Is Strange: Before the Storm Episode 1 was great!

Finally got up to date with The Walking Dead since it was on Netflix. David and I LOVED it.

Netflix also put Transformers RID 2015 on there. It continues from Transformers Prime. Which is the only reason I'm watching it. I hate how it looks and how it's clearly for children. I wish they would just make a Transformers show for older viewers. I rewatched Transformers Prime. It my favorite cartoon of Transformers.

And I got the art books for Mass Effect. The trilogy and Andromeda. It's sad reading the art book for Andromeda when I can tell how excited they were working on the game only for people to bash the shit out of it like it's their job.

The Stressful Stuff

Like I mentioned, people gave so much shit to Mass Effect Andromeda. As if Andromeda is the only game ever to have bugs and glitches. Fallout 4 has them out the ass and people still love it. But for Andromeda there was outrage. Then people started to just nitpick everything about it.
It was unnecessary. I loved the story and the characters and the voice acting is great. Way more than I can say for Fallout 4. (I like both of these games, by the way.) Then people bitch that Andromeda isn't going to have a DLC. I don't know what the fuck they want.
I just hope there's a second game. I really enjoyed Andromeda.

The biggest stress was having to move in with family. I am grateful they gave us a place to stay while we looked for an apartment, but it was still stressful.

Oh and American Horror Story season 7 sucks.

April

Favorites this month:

Attack On Titan season 2 is finally here and I'm happy to see more of this series animated. Nothing really to say about it but so far so good, it's being faithful to the manga.

Better Call Saul season 3 is out and I'm so excited to see how these characters met and started working together.

The new Overwatch event was really fun! I loved how it was a little story mode.

The Leftovers is the show I'm most excited for to watch. This is the third and final season of this series and I'm happy about that. Yes, it sucks when a good story ends but I rather it not go on for too long and I feel like this story needs to wrap up.

I got the Mass Effect coloring book that just came out and I'm so happy that the female Shepard is on the first page. I just wish this coloring book didn't have any Andromeda stuff in it. I wish it was just for the Mass Effect trilogy. I rather Andromeda have it's own coloring book. I just wanted more pages of the trilogy.

My very first POP figure! I love that Ryder's face is covered so I can imagine that she looks like my Ryder. I just don't like that "Sara" is the name that's on the box. I thought "Sara" was an optional name. Not the canon name...I rather they just labeled it "Female Ryder"

Bad thing this month:

This book is so bad and very disappointing. Characters are stupid and annoying. The ending is not satisfying and I wish I could get my money back (but I waited too long to read it from the time I bought it...).

My top 10 favorite shows of 2015

1. The Leftovers Season 2

I am in love with this show. The Leftovers is a different type of apocalypse compared to the common ones in most series.

When side characters get their own episode, it's always interesting. Always has my attention.
Better than Lost. I hated lots of episodes in Lost that wasted time on side characters.

The Leftovers seems to be random but in later episodes it shows that it was very thought out. Season two proved that it's not bullshit magic like it is in Lost.

2. The Killing

The last season for this show actually came out last year but I never watched until this year.

At first, it seems like a crime show like Law and Order, where every episode is a new crime. But it's not, it's an actual series so don't skip any episodes!

I love the two main characters. Their friendship and interactions reminds me of Walt and Jesse's friendship. The way they develop to trust and care about each other and all the times they argue and fight each other, is so good.

Also, no one is sexualized, so that's always a plus.

There's only four seasons. It's perfect.

3. The Walking Dead S5-6

I love this show. I think it get better and better.

4. Better Call Saul

If you love Breaking Bad then you'll love Better Call Saul. The tension from the main series is in this too.

5. Sound! Euphonium

I made a whole blog post on why this anime is amazing compared to other slice of life/high school club anime. Click here to read it.

6. Noragami Aragoto Season 2

It's fun, funny and cute. I wish the season was longer than just 13 episodes.

7. One Punch Man

It's fun and funny. The fight scenes are awesome.

(I think it's funny how people are trying to figure out his power level when it's in the damn title.)

8. Fear The Walking Dead

"They should just cancel The Walking Dead and just concentrate on FearTWD." Fuck you. The more the merrier.

Excited for the second season!

9. House of Cards Season 3

I love this show even though I'm not on the main character's side. Anything that hurts him or makes him upset, I cheer for. It's fun.

10. RWBY Vol. 3

The fight scenes is where this anime shines.
Anyone who doesn't want to watch it just because it's a anime with English voices, fuck you. But they are making a Japanese dub so there you go.

I'm really proud of RoosterTeeth's anime becoming so popular. It's amazing.

Honorable mention: Prison School

It's so funny!

My Favorite Shows of 2014

1. The Leftovers

The first episode did a great job at getting me hooked to watch it.
I love the type of fear in this drama and how interesting it is to see how differently this can effect people.

The acting is so good and the music is perfect.

I was interested in all of the main characters, I either liked them or hated them. There were none I found boring.

2. The Walking Dead

I'm talking about the ending half of season 4 and the first half of season 5.
(Spoilers Start!
I loved it. It was really exciting and made me nervous seeing the characters split up and trying to meet up to the best place they could think the rest of their group would go.
Most of them were able to get to know a little bit more about each other and become closer.
(Spoilers end!)

I never got bored with The Walking Dead. I love it as strong as I did when I first starting watching it.
Some fans seem to get confused and think this is a action series. It's not, it's a drama series.

3. Parasyte
Summary of the show

This anime surprised me with how great it is. Most anime doesn't shock me anymore like it used to when I was in high school because I just got sick of cliches and fan service in anime as I got older.

This anime is listed as a horror anime but I consider it a drama with just a little bit more action than The Walking Dead. It's really interesting and exciting seeing what the main characters will have to face and seeing them change and develop.

They both are shows that people who aren't anime fans would most likely enjoy these series.

Sadly, there is one cliche that even these amazing anime can't seem to escape from, the main characters are teenagers.
I can't wait for the day where anime starts popping out with shows that have the main characters in their 40s or up.

4. Parks and Recreation

Season 6. It was just really funny, just as funny as it has been. Most shows get less funny as it goes on but this is one the of ones that stays good!

I love it way more than The Office and I love that the characters actually grow into a better person.
The Office was funny and I like that show but it's just not as great as Parks and Recreation is with their story and character development. They develop and are still funny and entertaining to watch.

Characters in The Office seemed to just stay the same. Yes, they may have gotten a better job, got into a relationship, got married and/or started a family but they still didn't seem to develop much differently than they were before experiencing all of that. It doesn't make it a bad comedy it just makes it a comedy I don't like as much as I do others ones. Parks and Rec is that comedy I like better. Way better.

5. Aldnoah.Zero

This is another anime that really surprised me, not because it's so good and should be as popular as Attack On Titan and Parasyte but because it's a Mecha anime that I actually like.

Other mecha anime are boring to me even the action because it's not well done, in my opinion. This anime is really, really good with its action by showing us what is happening in every move.

Other anime will just have the big robots shooting at each other wildly.

In Aldnoah.Zero they actually focus on the battle and try to make every hit count.

If it was just a drama anime, I would not have stuck with it. This may be the only show were there needs to be more action than drama.

6. Hunter x Hunter

This was my favorite anime for a long time, not because it's a great show like Attack On Titan or Parasyte but because I started watching the old anime with my husband and grown attached to the characters. We starting reading the manga of it when the old anime stopped after Greed Island and was so happy to hear that a updated anime was going to air and was going to be animated past Greed Island. Plus, this newer anime of HxH is much more faithful to the manga.

The Ant Arc was my least my favorite but it was pretty cool seeing it animated. I really don't think it needed to be that long because there are a lot of ant characters that I didn't care about and didn't need to know their story.

Any parts based on Killua were so good. Kurapika was my favorite character for a while from this anime but after seeing Killua in the Ant Arc and Alluka's Arc, I think he has passed Kurapika in my heart.

7. Noragami

This show is so entertaining, I was never bored. Never!
I loved seeing the main character start having feelings for the female character. I enjoyed most of the action but I mainly really loved this anime because it's funny, the drama is decent and can be cute at times.

The only thing bad about it is it was too short which made it rush the last fight. It needed to be a few episodes longer.

8. Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun

It's funny and cute! The opening song is really good too!

9. Attack On Space

This is a fan-made, parody, audio play series on YouTube.
It's about the characters from Attack On Titan in a different universe. Think of it as a fanfiction but you watch it instead of reading it.

It takes place way in the future and it has pretty good English voice actors, interesting original characters and a good story line.

It was so good that it almost got worked into a live action from a different group. Sadly the Kickstarter didn't make it but the fact that almost happened is amazing!

The first episode or two has no art, just a black screen and audio and speech text too, i think. But they do get art into it in episode 3, I believe. It's like watching a visual novel.

10. Survey Corpse

This is another fan-made, audio play, parody on YouTube. And it's also a parody of Attack on Titan but in a zombie apocalyptic world.

I'm not going to lie, I didn't care at all about any of the characters besides Levi, Petra and Erwin. And I wanted to care about Eren because I like him but I was upset the characters all have the same relationships as the canon series and as Attack On Space for that matter. Which means Mikasa is Eren's sister...again! Annie, Bert, and Reiner are in a secret group...again! Jean and Eren don't get along..again! And Armin becomes close with Eren, Sasha and Connie are close and Jean and Marco are close...again! And of course the same characters that die in the canon series die in this series too.

But as I watched more, I do care about almost all of the characters now.

I like this setting way more than them being in space but because I seen Attack On Space first I wasn't rolling my eyes at the relationships and outcomes like I am with Survey Corpse.
I would have loved it to death if the characters had the same personalities but different relationships or even different ages too. But just having the different relationships would be a big plus by itself because we wouldn't know what to expect at all.

There's an episode where the characters pair off with a character they usually aren't always with and I loved that episode so much! It was so interesting seeing two characters who hardly talk to each other, have a conversion and got to understand each other more.

Even though it has all these same routines it's still a really good series and has pretty good English voice acting and the art is good as well. I get really excited when I see a new episode as been posted!

These two shows really helped me this year with Attack On Titan not airing. And it wont until 2016....
