51:49 Would Mike defend Steve that strongly? Or would he join in on taking a dig at Steve?
Why is Steve being so defensive for Mike? Is it because after the episodes where Mike was unfair towards the fan that made "DB or Not DB" and after he was unfair towards Steve's feelings about an actorthat now Steve is sensitive about people picking on Mike after reading the valid comments under those episodes? ๐ค
I feel like if Will talked about having a list of reasons why he hates Mike two months ago, Steve would be chill and know that it's a joke.
(I left these comments on YouTube and Reddit because I seen too many white boys being offended that Will used Mike for a joke, that I wanted to show support to Will.)
This was the the first time that Steve ruined a bit by taking it serious. I love you, Steve, that's why I'm disappointed you did not pass the vibe check, when you usually do!
Kevin passed it though ๐
Are the boys going to defend Will from the DB subreddit of fans saying that he isn't funny like how the boys defended Kevin when just one fan said that they don't find Kevin funny on Reddit? ๐
(This is more rude than what was said about Kevin and the boys got triggered over that mild comment. And the comments on Reddit have so many upvotes for insulting Will. This fandom is disappointing me.)
I want Will on again with Mike so everyone can see how much they were overreacting. I bet Mike would've played along and made his own list to roast back.
The only people that hate on the Renaissance fair are Youtubers. I went a few times with friends and it was fun. It's just a themed fair. What more do you expect?
5:53 That's how I feel about stand-up comedy. My only hope of ever enjoying it is if Steve got into it or Brittany Broski because I feel like they would be the only two people to make me laugh at a stand-up show.
I love that The Valleyfolk boys are chill with their different opinions ๐งก #NotEverythingIsForEveryone
19:03 Yeah that sucks. I was thinking if any sci-fi story had seen that coming. If the stories with A.I. doing art, movies and music so the artists protest and boycott anything made by them. But I can't think of any older sci-fi stories having that.
Most sci-fi stories only talk about using A.I. to replace assistants or robots replacing a lot of working-class jobs.
19:27 No shit, Kevin.
I paused the podcast and watched the episode they talk about and it wasn't as funny as I thought it would be.... But I've never seen Hot Ones so many I should've started with another episode first to compare it to this one. Also, I didn't really know who Conan O'Brien was lol I can see you rolling your eyes, Reader.
He seems cool but I think the boys are funnier ๐คท I didn't grow up watching other comedians and their talk shows. I knew of them but comedy wasn't in my world. Videogames and music was. Sourcefed people and Brittany Broski are the only comedians I'm a fan of.
Hopefully this explanation shows you why I didn't find it as funny as Kevin and Joe did. I did like the doctor character coming in and joking with him. Loved that!
I cringed at the part where the host says it's a bit and Conan is yelling that it's not a bit and the host has to agree with him. It's easy to control the show when you yell over a host that wont challenge you.
Brittany is my Conan O'Brien. I look up to Brittany and she's younger than me! I just really respect her and hope one day I can meet her and tell her that she is my favorite comedian.
I love Steve, he has been my favorite comedian since Sourcefed (and I've watching his older stuff on his channel) but once I discovered Brittany around a year ago, she was on the same level with Steve for me immediately.
Thank you for telling people to comment, Joe. I think it's good to get the fans to be more active. Show them you care about them still listening.
Also, thank you for sharing that news update, Joe <3 I seen someone comment that politics are "boring" but they don't find it boring! They're just mad that your politics don't match theirs.
Make people uncomfortable when they listen to your show if they are going to be on the wrong side of history ๐๐๐
5:20 When you ask a question but you're still confused after knowing the answer.
8:11 Talking to everyone on Reddit. This is such a good episode for all the bitchy fans who complain about her feels on men. Those fans love to act like they know better than her and love to point out what is problematic and want is unhealthy when she didn't ask.
Yeah. Yeah. Freedom of speech and all that but that works both ways. She's free to talk about whatever the fuck she wants however the fuck she wants and ya'll are free to act high and mighty and I'm free to roll my eyes at your complaints ๐
I'm glad she's obsessed with a game at the moment because it does help keep your mind off of your crush. I'm hoping it helps time go by fast for her until she can go visit that guy in another country during the summer. If it doesn't work out, she can completely move on.
Or even better, she meets a guy near her and that works out for her to not have to thinking about dating anymore. She needs someone who isn't trying to be a content creator so they don't have it in their minds that they can use her fame.
I'm praying for you to find a man who loves how funny you are and not how many followers you have, Brittany!
On that note, I think it's cool that she can enjoy gospel music but doesn't like the church. She has that hope of a higher power but is also self-aware that religion is bullshit.
38:28 She has good taste ๐ฉท I never understood the hate either!
I remember in high school (2004-2008) people were shitting on Nickelback. I never stopped listening to them though. I would bring my CD player and case of CDs with me to school so I had something to listen to on the way home and Nickelback was one of them.
I love that Steve likes those videos of 3 old women dancing. I get what he means by it giving him hope to see them happy and being silly. When you're scared of getting older, it's nice seeing old people having fun and looking stylish. The fear goes away in those moments.
It's easy for me to love being in my 30s because I grew up watching Friends and they were all turning 30 and still acted childish in a fun way.
I would love to see more old people in videos or TV shows acting childish in a fun way too. It's why I get so annoyed with anime. Almost every fucking story is about teenagers. (Attack On Titan would've been better if the main characters were adults ๐ )
I don't know how it's "a lot of work" when all he has to do is livestream the talk like he's doing now but he's free to say spoilers without the warning! Just plan when to record like how he does for a podcast or livestream and done. Movie club made. Even if it just with one friend, the chat can help add to the conversation. There's no need for there to be three people or more on a book club show. One or two is fine.
Even with Owen's bad mic, it'll still be fun to listen to them fully nerd out. It sucks that they have to be vague on DB and The Valleycast and his Twitch streams because those shows are comedy and not a free place to talk about spoilers.
I'm asking for something that can be chill and fun maybe once or twice a month. Not something high quality that requires a weekly schedule and can get them paid. He goes on Twitch not thinking about getting paid and he streams on Instagram not thinking about getting paid. Why can't a TV show/movie/book club be the same?
I'd rather have a movie club show that slowly uploads than do not have it at all.
How about when they are playing Fortnite, they just record their audios and talk about the movie, show or book? No need to have video for every show. Make it easy. Why is every idea always thought to be "a lot of work"?
I don't say all this in the Twitch chat because I don't want to seem demanding. I also don't talk in the chat a lot because I don't want to really be remembered. I just ask a question here and there without going into more detail when he says stuff like, "it's a lot of work."
So this blog is for me to feel free to be as detailed as possible ✌
I left a comment anyway telling them about Quantum Break so hopefully someone in their friend group checks it out because I know they would love it.
I kinda agree with Steve about how it's tiring when a show is hoping for a second season so they write the characters to have secrets and distrust to drag out bullshit drama. I say "kinda" because I do want there to be more seasons if a series is really good. Like, how season 1 of The Leftovers is perfect by itself. Didn't need two more seasons but I'm so glad it does because all three seasons are fantastic!
Just have a goal for one season, complete it. Then come up with a new season if there's room for more plot.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners is a miniseries and they said they will never make a season 2 even though season 1 did so well. It won anime of the year! They meant for the story to conclude in 10 episodes and it did. They said if they made another anime, it would be a new set of characters.
I love that they stood their ground and didn't let the popularity get to their heads to hurry and make another season. It's normal to instantly think, "I want more!" as a fan but it's good to realize a short show with a good ending is better than a longer show with no end in sight.
On the subject of the Fallout show doing well with a female main character; if they make a Mass Effect show, I really, really, really hope Shepard isn't in it. I hope they just use They/Them like they do in the novels and comics whenever Shepard is mentioned. (Just in case you don't know, in the game you can choose to be male or female.)
It's tiring how people love to recycle characters and stories instead of seeing something new. Just play the game again if you want to see that exact story and characters. Just read the book again if you want to see that exact story and characters. Just watch that movie again if you want to see that exact story and characters.
Show me new characters with a new perspective. Tell me something I don't know about Mass Effect instead of changing it. Add onto the lore instead of creating a fanfiction of it.
(I know that "Shepard's story" isn't the most voted for but 26% is still too much ๐)
It does make me happy to know I'm not alone:
(I'm purplypastel.)
45:04 I want to see this movie! Not just because Steve says it's good but because I've seen people on Twitter saying it's surprisingly really good. Can't wait.
53:42 I'm a kid from the 90s and have never heard of it. The only Water World I knew of was a water park in Phoenix that was called that lol
2:44 This is the best podcast. She goes off on a rant from the smallest things for comedic effect, something that I hate when other people do it. But with her, I love it.
I wish I was good with words to explain how and why she's different.
I hope she never has people in the room with her. Please God, have her keep this podcast solo so she has the freedom to deep dive whenever she does the searching herself. Please, don't have her think she needs an audience in the room with her to make the podcast "better" by having someone else take the time to search her topics.๐ค
23:03 This is what my husband and I have been dealing with for years. We want to be healthy but don't have the money to keep buying healthy food. We have to switch it up and it sucks to not be able to go all in on the healthy lifestyle. It's so easy for us to give up candy, soda, meat, frozen dinners, and the microwave as a goal for a year. (We start getting them again after a year is up but the microwave has stayed gone ๐)
But we can't do much more than that because it's too much. Sometimes, we buy the better brands but it can't happen weekly.
I hate that working out isn't enough. I know it's better than nothing but I wish it was enough to eat so I don't have to worry about expensive food.
Having to choose healthier food and entertainment every paycheck is draining when there's lucky people who don't have to choose. They can enjoy life without a budget.
46:55 I hate stand-up comedy shows. I've tried to get into them but they always make me cringe. But maybe hers would be different. Brittany could make me see the light, or at the very least she would be the exception.
If she can't make me laugh at a stand-up show then no one can.
Joe talks about how people in the countryside know how to share stories and make them sound interesting. That they know how to fill the dead air with talking about their past or an experience.
It reminds me of the vibe in the ANMA podcast. Geoff and Gustavo talk about stories of how they met, where they worked, how they started Rooster Teeth, the early days of the internet and the people they hated or messed with. Also, shit they would do to friends and each other when they got into an argument. (I love "it was a different time" stories! Always funny!)
And most of all, they talk about the place they've been living in for 20 years. They always have an interesting or funny story to tell.
That podcast makes me want to tell my stories about growing up in Phoenix, Arizona. I lived in Phoenix since I was 20. I miss seeing people with different cultures around and going on the bus with my cousins and friends to the mall. I miss sneaking into the movies because they were expensive for us. Spending all day at the library because we didn't have home internet and to get out of the heat.
And I miss ice cream trucks ๐ฅฐ
Now I live in West Virginia (I'm 34) and I always thought that I would want to move back but I fell in love with the countryside. I love that life here is relaxed, unless I go out shopping. But being in my home and not being able to see, from my yard, the sun blazing off the parked cars on the sidewalk or a bunch of stores and a parking lot is so fucking nice. Now I see this when I go out to get a package I ordered:
(No one lives in the house next to me, it's used for storage. It's nice and private ๐)
And I don't miss the roaches. I haven't seen a roach since moving here ๐
6:22 I also haven't been taking pictures of myself. Or video. I'm glad I've at least started to blog more.
But I should be taking more pictures and vids of myself. It'll just be private for my husband and friends to see. He has some home videos of him as a kid and I don't. The youngest I recorded myself was in high school in this video for a school project. (I'm "Valerie-sama" and I'm very quiet in the video. It gets loud at the end so don't listen with headphones.) I need more recorded memories because I'm sad that is all I have lol
I do have diaries I write in about once a month. I have them out by my desk so I can see them and remember to update them.
43:19 I'm excited for this! I really hope they really can get together this week or the next and watch a movie together. Maybe it'll boost some confidence in them to start meeting up in person to make people happy that hate Zoom videos. (I'm okay with it but I understand for the boys, the lag annoys them. But for fans, why do they hate it? We don't notice the lag because of the editing. "It reminds me of the pandemic!" ๐)
1:53 I agree but I get that it's hard to see when powerful people are the ones who gets to use it first so people think technology is evil.
3:37 Fans that got upset with her for ranting about movies she watched, need to understand this and calm down. They hated that she ranted about Arrival and the newest Hunger Games movie. It's a comedy podcast about her thoughts! Who cares about your love for those movies. If she hates them then good because the more mad she is, the funnier the bits.
But if she loves it and you hate it, let her fangirl over it. We don't care that you hated something she loves. Make your own podcast, it's really easy. Go.
I'm sick of seeing negative posts whining about her not liking the same shit as them or seeing a piece of art the same way they do. "She only likes hot, white men." No shit. Don't like it? Then her content isn't for you.
(The upvotes are the reason I stay on the subreddit. There's hope in the fandom that they can be chill with different opinions.)
6:30 I feel the same about old sci-fi movies and shows! I just keep comparing it to Mass Effect ๐คท I usually have no trouble getting into new sci-fi stuff (Can't get into new Star Wars shit and The Expanse) but when I play a new movie, show or game, I'm comparing it to Mass Effect right away. It helps me get into new shit, thinking about Valerie in Cyberpunk 2077 being Ryder from MEA (in a AU) because they both have an A.I. voice in their heads. It's fun and makes me like that new series faster!
But that doesn't seem to work with a lot of older sci-fi stuff because Mass Effect's characters, voice acting, soundtrack, dialogue and writing is so good, it wipes every other sci-fi story "off the fucking map" ๐
Before I played Mass Effect, Dead Space was my top sci-fi story. When I first created my character in Mass Effect, I choose to make her an engineer like the main character in Dead Space.
Brittany going down the rabbit hole of googling words she doesn't know is very entertaining. No other podcast does this except maybe Geoff on So...Alright, which is another solo podcast ๐ฉท More solo podcasts need to be a thing. I love them. Hosts interrupting each other can get annoying.
She then talks about what it means to be human and if robots can ever be alive or just act like they are. Here's a link to some of my thoughts on that. I'm too lazy to type all my thoughts out about robots again but I do love it so much. I only love it when it's being talked about calmly like this.
59:18 I'm fine with her making these episodes longer if she wants. Hey editors, don't force her to keep it around an hour. Come on, be cool!
Also, fuck people who have Brittany's number and think it's sane to share private texts to the world just because they're mad. I hope people who have that stupid woman in their friend group now know that she will share their private messages for views ๐คฎ Some people never grow up.
Talkin' Banter was a fun roleplay for them. I really love how nerdy it is because you know this wasn't really meant for fans. It was for Steve, Mike, Brett and Owen.
Fans sending them emails and tweets were great but if they didn't get anything, they were fine with it. They really loved when Jesse made an aftershow to theirs. It was a pleasant surprise for them and added to their game ๐งก
3:59 It reminds me of the long bit Steve did by reading the full terms of service on Elden Ring. Now anytime the terms of service pops up while he's playing another game, the chat gets nervous because Steve will start reading it a little to "jumpscare" them. I love it every time.
I'm so happy that I got to experienced that long bit live. I was coloring, browsing online shops or working out. Something where I didn't mind what he did because I was listening to him like a podcast.
I'm happy he committed to the bit and read all of it. Some fans got annoyed and others cheered him on. Even Steve regretted it but he's also proud he did it. It was an awesome, one time thing to catch him do. Then he made his character into Shrek ๐
7:24 I don't know who those names are either. I just googled them. I relate big time with people who don't care about celebrities. My favorite band is Korn but I still have no idea what they look like. Only been to one concert and hated it because everyone was yelling and I wanted to hear the music. I was maybe 12 or 13. It was for the Goo Goo Dolls.
I never look up stuff because I don't like seeing actors who play characters who are enemies with each other, laughing and hugging on set. It breaks the immersion for me. I waited until Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul ended to watch the bloopers. (I couldn't tell you any of those actors names except for Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul because fans of the series keep saying their real names instead of their character names.)
I'm nerdy for canon stuff, not behind the scene stuff. I think the EZU is the first time that I'm into any "behind the scene" stuff.
Do I get any "cool points" too or is it only cool if a man doesn't know actor names?
9:50 Owen didn't like looking for cool nerdy shit to buy at comic-con? I wonder if he's a minimalist. Or he just buys his nerdy stuff online.
I can't help myself, I love buying art prints, figures, keychains, and clothing at comic-con. Give me all the things that will collect dust. (I do have nightmares of my house catching on fire and losing everything but ๐คท)
I wonder if he has gone to comic-con since this episode was recorded.
I miss cosplaying. I haven't been to a convention since 2014.
(Character from Attack on Titan.)
I wish I got to experience Pokemon Go when it came out. I still had a flip phone in 2016....
I like how positive Owen's outlook is on games and technology. That's how I felt too at the time. Now it just feels like only rich people can have all the fun. I still have hope that there's room for A.I. to be fun and cool for the working class too someday.
14:24 I didn't even know there was another Independence Day movie. I know I've seen the old one but I cannot remember it. Owen saying it's bad makes me not want to rewatch. It sucks when a cool sounding story is badly executed.
Most bad movies would work better as videogames. That's what I like to think about for fun while watching a shit movie. Videogames are my favorite form of story telling. You can control so much and experience the art your own way. Even if the game has bad acting or writing, it can still be fun and interesting thanks to the gameplay. Games will always have that "last chance" to make someone love their experience with it that movies don't have.
I just finished reading Dreamcatcher by Stephen King and I loved it. It was so fun picturing the "mental battle" they had with the alien. I always imagine it with really beautiful animation or awesome video game graphics. I'm sick of Stephen King movies looking cheap as fuck.
I wish people would stop making every adaption into a live action. They would have more freedom with animation. (And if an actor needs to be replaced, it doesn't have to effect the story if all they have to do is replace a voice actor.)
Cartoons shouldn't just be for comedy or melodramatic stories.
(Maybe Independence Day would've been better as an animated movie.)
16:52 Magic Mike XXL is the better movie from that series. There was so much love for women in the movie and makes us wish that every man in the world thought like them. (Not to have every man look like them just have their mindset.) It made me feel good about getting older. Kinda like how the TV show, Friends made me feel excited to turn thirty.
It's not a good movie, it's a guilty pleaser for sure.
21:04 I wish there was recordings of them playing as a band.
I was 14 or 15 when they started. I love thinking about this stuff because I wonder if I came across them playing music or them just walking around and hanging out when I went on my California trips in High School. (2004 - 2008) We had free time to just wonder around shops in the city for an hour or two until meeting up with the teachers.
I love daydreaming that maybe I passed by them on the road, in a store, in a restaurant or the other side of the sidewalk. Either while I was on those trips or after high school when I went to LA for Anime Expo around 2011.
(Trying not to fit into the parasocial category is a daily battle ๐ )
22:50 The way Owen sounds I can believe that they really did have such a good time together. I really want to hear more about it. I wonder if Brett got to hear more in private because he seemed really interested too.
This isn't the same but it's reminding me of my resentment towards one of my cousins. She was like my best friend growing up but then she changed and threw me away. It was very shocking.
She reached out to me, years later, to reconnect but it's not the same after being hurt like that. I keep the conversations short. I don't want to get close to her again. What's the point? The trust is gone.
But I love thinking about my childhood with her. Anytime I wasn't at school or with friends, I was hanging out with her. We wished we were sisters. We stayed over at each other's house so much that we asked so many times for our parents to let us live together. We didn't care which one of us had to move but they always said, no.
Like I said, not the same thing at all but hearing Owen say that he wished Steve had been there every single time, made me think of her.
Whenever me and my best friend would hang out, I thought about my cousin and how fun it would be if she was still cool and hanging with us.
Anyways, I had to google Chromecast, Firestick and Roku because I didn't know what those were. I've been using the PS3, PS4 and now PS5 for my streaming services. I've never had to think about how to watch something on my TV.
I think I may have heard about Roku before and forgot because it was never mentioned until this podcast. I feel like my world has opened up a little after learning how other people stream on TVs without gaming consoles.
32:36 You sure about that now, Owen? You sure Mike was just being funny? Or was he actually complaining in a passive-aggressive way like he does now. Openly. Clearly. Commonly....
I do love how positive you are, Owen. You seem like the most sweet, supportive and understanding friend in the EZU group.
I like to think that my video of the crazy lady is what Steve and Mike heard and used in their Vinyl. They admitted in the 400th episode that they just searched for fan-made videos of DB to see which moments were "fan approved" and picked those.
If I could go back in time and not be a lurker, I would ask, "So, Steve and Owen met by bonding over music. How did you and Owen meet and what did you two bond over?"
Maybe that's boring but I like asking serious questions over funny ones. Although I do like it when other people ask funny questions. I'm just not confident enough to do it myself.
I did get to ask Steve this question:
But I would love to hear how Brett and Owen met. Maybe I'll ask Steve on another livestream instead of wishing for Talkin' Banter to come back to ask them.
I'm upset I missed this livestream and it seems like Steve didn't save it as a VOD. I guess so fans have to watch the Youtube version so the views aren't split. It's the only livestreams where I love seeing the chat all the time though. They always vibe well with Steve ๐ฅฐ
They got a nice comment from someone that told them that they love the podcast and to keep making them. They were a fan since SourceFed and that topic got the boys to say they want that channel back and that people behind the scenes are trying but it's hard.
That gives me a little hope that the might get the channel back and do something with it since they are actually trying. Or at least talking about it.
I think it's obvious that since they are all still in the friend group with the other SourceFed people, then that means them letting Lee go was the right move.
Lee and her husband still say they were backstabbed (Lee can do no wrong, I guess. The boys just did it "out of nowhere" ๐คจ) so no hope there for them to make up with the boys and everyone else in the friend group. (Only Trisha because she had said that she didn't want to know the reason they let Lee go.)
(Joe still cares and has hope to make up with her.)
If the boys were actual backstabbers then someone from SourceFed would've spoken up to defend her but no one did. Not even Mike who is friends with the boys and Lee's husband.
I hope Trisha is right and that they might be able to all become friends again. That was her hope too when she talked about it on a livestream.
Lee's stans are pathetic. They wont move on and wont let others move on but at least they keep giving the boys a click ๐
(Plus, Joe and Elliott are thriving on other channels too ๐)
20:02 I would love a DVD set of SourceFed videos ๐งก
Elliott talks about Substack. I had no idea what that was so I'm glad Steve asked him. I think Elliott writes interesting stuff so I can't wait to see what he posts there.
Steve talks about how complicated it is to set up a stream and I totally understand. I get so pissed when technology doesn't work. I would be fine if Steve just streamed straight from his PS5.
Someone in the chat said that no one does it like Steve. That's very true, I talk to my husband a lot about how I love when Steve, Joe and Elliott would stream on Twitch vs Youtube, because they are so unique and funny. Twitch has their own language and the inside jokes get old fast so it's refreshing to see comedians use Twitch their own way.
Like, the "Hype Train" song for every level. I wish I had those older Valleyfolk streams of Joe and Elliott singing with Steve.
Brittany Broski, streamed her gameplay by having a camera on her and a big mirror next to her so people can see the game. Shit like that is hilarious. It's not "bad quality" if it's fucking entertaining. We aren't there for the games, we're there for the streamer. Otherwise, we'd play the games ourselves.
Link (I couldn't find clips of that stream so here is something to show her humor.)
I loved seeing Elliott's reaction to people's answers in Quiplash.
I wish Joe and Owen was playing Jackbox with them too. "Owen always takes the money!"
I have never played Jackbox with them. I'm not funny enough to come up with answers that would make them laugh so I'm good just watching and judging other fans who don't make them laugh. It's a fun position to be in ๐
1:11:15 After the Jackbox game, Steve tells Elliott about the weird woman he met at a bar. Elliott's reaction to the story is great ๐
She starts off with acting like her mom who trying to wake us up for school ๐OMG I hated when my mom would keep calling my name to wake me.
I'd rather she just gently shake me and I'll be up. It's what my husband does. Is that so hard? Instead of coming in the room more than once, just come up to the fucking bed and actually wake me up!
I remember when she was just at the foot of my bed, folding clothes and wasn't looking at me but kept saying my name every time she folded a different shirt. (Which was like every five seconds!) I was looking at her with so much anger before she noticed ๐ข She did this more than once and I couldn't tell her to shut up so I would say either "Okay!" or "Stop!"
But those words weren't strong enough for me to get my anger out. It was infuriating.
0:38 Funny bit that is still funny even though she has to explain what she's doing for the audio only listeners ๐๐๐ Every fucking podcast with a video version should do that instead of being lazy! Explaining movements of the joke doesn't kill the joke!
23:28 I don't give a fuck about Beyonce but I'm interested when Brittany talks about her. I love her passion for deep diving into music. It's fun listening to someone talk about their hobbies.
31:37 LOL I love this though. That she feels validated with her intense feelings of romance from this music. Like how I feel validated with my feelings of obsessing over fictional characters from Brittany ๐งก
"You can go argue with the wall." I love that, I'm going to use that from now on.
1:05:55 I want her to guest on the Dynamic Banter podcast and say stuff like this to Mike! I would love it if Steve said it to Mike but he's too nice to him. I wish Steve treated Mike like how Mike treats Steve.
(It's hard for me not to talk about Dynamic Banter with this podcast because those were my top favorite podcasts. But now it's The Broski Report and The Valleycast. Dynamic Banter has ranked down, I only listen for Steve Zaragoza, who is also on The Valleycast. I love Steve and Brittany so much. They have the same positive and funny energy, I hope they meet someday, click instantly and become close friends.)
At the very end she says that she was a fan of Theo since high school and that was obvious if people actually listened to her on that podcast because she talks about being a fan and taking a picture with him. He doesn't remember that and he doesn't watch her stuff, only clips and Tiktok videos. He only knows of her but isn't friends with her but it could be a start to their friendship ๐ค
I just hated seeing fans on Reddit being too stupid to understand that people with good hearts grow in different ways. He had a good heart and the biggest clue is that Brittany is a fan of his. And he's dry humor was great! I had to get used to it in the first 10 minutes because I didn't know him but it was easy to understand.
Dry humor is a breath of fresh air from the popular loud and goofy humor. Him not laughing at every joke made it feel worth it when he did laugh. It's like whenever Elliott laughs hard on The Valleyfolk podcast, it feels like an award.
Theo did misgender people but not on purpose. (It made me cringe and reminded me of Sam Kansky from Tell Me Why.) He was trying to respect them but got the pronouns wrong. And since they aren't friends, I understand why Brittany didn't correct him; it would've made it awkward as a guest on a show that was wrapping up the episode. I'm sure she corrected him after they stopped recording or in a private talk if he does it again.
Like I said, it was obvious that he's a cool person who was trying, pay attention to the context instead of pointing out the words and ignoring the topic and his kind tone when saying it. He needs to get used to not misgendering for sure because even people who get it right, they talk slower when talking about trans people. They want to make sure they say the correct word but they aren't talking their normal speed but he was.
I'm sure he'll read the comments and learn to think ahead and make sure that he says the right thing. It's not hard to learn but it takes skill for your brain and mouth to match the same speed. A lot of people still stumble and will have to correct themselves.
I hope she goes on his podcast again to where she does become comfortable correcting him if she needs to.
Fuck the fans who are too stupid to understand that people are complicated and real. People are not perfect characters created to be either good or evil. Everyone has a red flag that they need to work on.
Not being a fan of his comedy? Fine.
Saying he's a shitty person based off of a mistake? Shut up and grow up.
Anyway, I don't know if he was joking but I thought it was interesting that he comes from a poor family. I related to that. I feel like when people say they're poor, they're not as poor as I am and they just mean, "I can't afford a house." or "I can't go on vacation." ๐
I can't afford a name brand smartphone. I can't afford phone service. I have a phone that takes minutes from cards you can buy in the grocery store.
When Overwatch 2 came out, I couldn't play the game because you had to have a phone number added to the account and they didn't accept prepaid phone numbers. (Luckily, with enough online outrage, they changed it to if you've had an account for over a year then you can play Overwatch 2.)
I don't relate to other content creators saying they were/are poor unless they also had/have a hard time keeping up with new videogames, new technology, can't spend money on fast food and can't go to the movies every fucking week.
And living paycheck to paycheck.... Workers need to be paid more. Fuck you if you think it depends on the job. The workers need to be paid more in any job.
3:51 That makes me very happy to hear because I was nervous about where he was going with that topic.
15:08 Aww lol I remember when I was getting picked on and my mom would share my frustration while my dad didn't give a fuck. I remember him saying, "That's girl stuff." I got picked on by boys too so how is that "girl stuff"?? Anyway, my mom gave me the courage to fight back.
I only cried once about a bully and it was because she pinched me hard. I didn't cry in front of her but once I was alone with my mom that's when it came out. Luckily, the bullies after that one never physically hurt me so there was really nothing to cry about. Just complain and it was so helpful to have my mom care and be angry at them with me. We would make fun of them together.
That was too much to ask for from my dad, I guess.
20:14 "Boy experience." I wonder if it would've helped if they wore a cup? Why don't guys wear cups all the time? There has to be some brand that makes them comfortable.
I enjoyed the silly conversation of the hamster rumor. I heard about it when I was in grade school or middle school where kids said gay people put hamsters up their butts. I don't remember it being tied to an actor. But it's like the game, Telephone; people spreading rumors they heard will always have something different than what the rumor started as.
39:34 I wish Steve was this sassy towards Mike. I can't wait for that fucking day!
Steve isn't even angry with his sass. He knows he's in a safe space with his comedian friends who can take a sassy comment. Mike can't even hear an opinion he doesn't agree or relate to. So, his head would explode if there was sass added in.
I'm glad fans are speaking up about Mike's bitchiness because it felt like I was alone in thinking that for a long time.
As soon as Mike gets triggered off whatever Steve said, Steve should just change the subject and save those fun conversations for Elliott and Joe. The Valleyfolk deals with different opinions with an open mind and humor (try it out sometime on the comedy podcast, Mike). Any arguments that happen on The Valleycast has never been stressful. It has always ended with a lighthearted vibe while smoothly going into a new topic.
Even the episode where Elliott gets upset with Steve and walks out while Lee and Steve are laughing at him. The next episode is Elliott and Steve talking about how they made up. That's something Dynamic Banter hasn't done and I wish they would.
I wonder if Owen just sits back and laughs at Mike being a baby or if he gets frustrated too. Owen seems very laid back so I'm assuming he laughs when Mike is on his period.
I wonder how Steve's mom reacts to Mike not respecting Steve's opinions like how Steve respects Mike's.
I can't help but think of his mom and Owen for every podcast because I know they listen to everything Steve is in. I think it's really sweet how supportive they are of him ๐งก
I left a comment saying that I would love if Steve did a three hour video! I'm a week behind on this podcast because my power went out for five days... So, I hope he still sees that comment or Elliott sees it and tells him about it ๐ค
I wish DB was fun again like The Valleycast because like I've said, it's been stressful feeling like the vibe is on thin ice with Mike's mood.
1:40 I think that's how Owen feels about Steve and Mike. I get it. I felt like that with my middle school best friend, Aileen. And then my friend, Yazmin. They are so funny and carefree and I've never met anyone else like that in person. (I lost touch with Aileen, I wonder if she makes content.)
33:18 I love when she gets fake mad at us. I hate when fans get butthurt about it though. This is what A.I. should be used for; vetting people who can take a joke to be on the same internet as the rest of us.
