Fall 2020

Fall Guys

A really fun "battle royal" game and really cute! I still really find it fun months later.

Control AWE DLC

I loved this expansion! There is so much lore and shows how this game connects to the Alan Wake games. It was very exciting playing this.

Doom Eternal

This game having so much interesting lore was a pleasant surprise. Just like God of War 4, this Doom game was more than just "turn your brain off and kill enemies" like the older games were for these series. I love all the reading there is in Doom Eternal and it's optional so if players don't want to know the details of the world and characters, then they can just enjoy the cutscenes. The game simplifies it good enough for the player to not have to read the codex. I can't wait for the next DLC!

Genshin Impact

This game is the anime version of Breath of the Wild but free to play.

Lovecraft Country

The first episode is the best one and I was really hoping the rest of the series would continue to feel as good as that first ep. I thought it would be the next best series after Watchmen but...it wasn't. I did still enjoy it but I have a lot of nit picks. I have hope though that in season 2, the creators will learn from their mistakes so I can't wait!

Space Force

It's so much more funnier than I thought it would be! I loved it! Such a fun show!

Pen15 Season 2

I love this show, it makes me miss my cousin who used to be my best friend. The show just makes me feel good. Makes me remember fun memories.

The Witcher books

I read more and I love finding out how Geralt met characters that show up in the game and reading about Ciri's struggles.

Superior Code podcast

I started my own podcast. It's just me talking about fun "what ifs" of series I love. It feels nice explaining something fun that's in my mind without someone interrupting me or disagreeing with me.
I'm fine with listeners disagreeing in the comments because by then, at least I got to explain everything fully instead of the back and forth discussions of people interrupting each other. So, if people want to talk to me about these fun topics, it'll only be in the YouTube comments.
So, doing it this way just avoids misunderstandings, if that makes sense.

Belle Delphine

I'm so happy she has decided to do "interviews" on a few podcasts recently because now more people will stop acting like she's not human. Even though that should have been common sense a lot of people are heartless anyway. I know she says that it doesn't bother her because it's a character all these people are insulting but it really bugs me. It's very sexist how the internet kind of all agrees to trash a girl online for being weird but when guys are weird, it's funny???
Her content was always funny to me. Yes, it's "E-girl" version the way she does her jokes but it's still funny! It's like Bree Essrig's sense of humor! (I want them to team up so bad!)

I've been following her way before she sold her bathwater so I'm just happy that now a lot more people will start treating her better and talking about her in a more respectable manner. Even though she has thick skin, I think it's good if people start being polite anyways because of future girls like her who wont have thick skin. She loves when people talks about her because it gives her more attention but maybe other girls wont like that unless it's respectable.

I'm just really happy that she's doing really well and has a partner to be by her side.

The bad stuff this season:

Away
is just such a waste of a show. Could have been a good sci-fi drama but it decided to make the leader a crybaby and make the rest of the crew weak and nonprofessional.

The first episode was interesting but after the second episode, I knew this series was going to be bad.

At first I loved that they made the Commander a woman but then I find out that she's too nice. The show wants her to be so good hearted that it makes her a pushover. There's a way to make leaders a nice person who puts their friends over the mission while still being intimidating. But they didn't want to do that because they did what most anime does with their main female characters; they made them goody-goody, emotional wrecks.

What really pisses me off is that they wouldn't have make her that way if she were a male commander character.

(If there's ever a Mass Effect live action with Femshep, they better not make her cry like people do in fanfiction a LOT.)

I don't give a shit about the dumb family drama. I hate that the characters were able to have live conversations with their loved ones while traveling in space. Unnecessary stress from her daughter being bratty. I understand being scared for your mother's life in space but how about having some pride that she is a commander and in fucking space AND going to be the first to land on Mars? Ungrateful brat had years to prepare and accept that she wont have her mother in her life for 3 years.

Plus, the Commander is bothered with who her daughter is dating. I mean, really? Keep your focus on the mission! Such a dumb character. How did she become leader?

Search Party started out so fucking good. The first season is great, the second I still enjoyed but the 3rd was annoying. It didn't feel enjoyable to watch as much but now that all the court stuff is over, I'm excited for the fourth season. It might be unfair to put this show in the list of bad things but it did make me not want to recommend this show until I see how it finally ends.

Higurashi (New series) is another show that might be unfair for me to put in this bad list but so far it's such a let down. There's too much wasted time on fan service and fluff. I just want the new series to just focus on the story. It hasn't finished airing but there's 12 eps so far and they're not great.

Ryan Haywood from AH is a big creep.

Commander Shepard in Andromeda

I (and many other fans) like thinking about Shepard going to Andromeda. Sometimes I think about her replacing either Alec or his kids as Pathfinder.

Maybe she leaves before the Collectors destroy her ship.

Maybe she leaves after beating the Collectors with the upgraded ship and bigger crew.

Or maybe she goes after beating the reapers and the Milky Way is safe. Shepard would have so much experience, respect and fame. I can only think of her leaving only if her boyfriend or girlfriend dies. For her to leave a place she's fought so hard for. Or her lover is alive but they just want more adventure. It's unnecessary but I find it fun to think about details like that.

Renegade Shepard wouldn't let SAM kill her. She would find a way out of it with her biotics (by having SAM change her combat profile if she didn't already have biotics) or by commanding her other companions to find her location on the enemy ship and free her. She already cleared the way anyways so it shouldn't be too much trouble for help to follow them. It would just take time. Maybe by doing that, there is no time to save the Krogan or the Salarian Pathfinder. That's why it's a renegade option.

Renegade Shepard wants to stop the enemy but not by risking her life if she doesn't have to.

Paragon Shepard would trust SAM. Paragon Shepard wouldn't want to waste time saving lives so she would have to trust SAM to get her free quickly.

Also, Shepard is used to relying on her own skills and strength. She wouldn't always need SAM to help her fight. Shepard doesn't need SAM to be talented so with SAM, Shepard would be overpowered.

The Ryders use SAM a lot during combat and would have to get used to not having him if SAM disconnects from them.

Renegade Shepard would demand that Liam not do anything else without her order. Or she would kick him off her ship like she did with the Quarian, Admiral Han'Gerrel vas Neema and the human reporter, Diana Allers. Shepard wouldn't allow Liam to talk back after endangering her people and still remain as part of her crew.

Shepard might even punch Liam for pissing her off and getting in her way of doing her job of finding a home for everyone, having to stop to fix his big mistake. Renegade Shepard would throw away friendship over winning a war. Like, sabotaging the cure for the genophage for all Salarian support against the Reapers. (Sheaprd has to kill Wrex and Mordain to sabotage it.) Or letting all the Quarians get destroyed by the Geth to have a strong robot army. So, she would make sure Liam's new friend wouldn't go anywhere with important info about her people until that info was outdated.

Liam yells at Ryder like a child if they choose to detain his new friend. And both Ryders just lets him disrespect them. Liam should have been reported and locked up for what he did. Or even exiled. Even if he had good intentions, he made a big risk all because he's too trusting of anyone who says they want to help.

Paragon Shepard would be forgiving like the Ryder siblings but explain to him that he can't do behind her back ever again.

Players don't have to be full paragon or full renegade as Shepard. They can mix it up to moments where being charming is smarter than being intimidating. And the other way around.
In Andromeda, players hardly get to make options like that as Ryder. Most times players have to be a paragon no matter what.

(Renegade Shepard and her crew to Evfra and anyone else who doesn't want help):
I imagine Shepard getting away with talking to the Angara leaders like this only if it's after beating the Reapers. Having so many allies like a Krogan army that are cured and the Geth army who followed Shepard to Andromeda.
But if its the Shepard who didn't fight the Reapers then moments with Anagara would be paragon moments. Shepard would know it's best to get all the help she needs for a war so she would play nice.

At the end of each game, everyone has so much respect for Shepard because of what she has accomplished. Everyone knows what Shepard stands for after she proves herself to them.
But the Ryders still aren't completely trusted by Evfra and other Angara after beating the Archon.
I hope if Andromeda is continued that Ryder gets the respect they deserve from Evfra.

Some moments that the Ryder siblings did something a renegade Shepard would do:
Choosing to put a military outpost.
Told Jaal that saving Moshae Sjefa was the mission, not saving others. "My ship. My mission."
Points a gun at Sloane.
Shoots Reyes.
Shoots Kalinda.
Went to find Meridian after the leadership told them not to.

Summer 2020

Watchmen Rewatch

Watching this with my husband was so amazing. I loved seeing his reactions and hearing his thoughts about this show. It's so good! If there's another season I hope I love it just as much.

The Wire

I got HBO for the first time and seen this show was on there and decided to finally watch it. I love Breaking Bad so much and heard from a lot of people that The Wire inspired it. I did enjoy it over all and totally get why people say it's one of the best shows ever. But it was kinda a slow burn for me. I loved the first season and was kinda disappointed that the other seasons hardly kept that same vibe for me.

I'm so happy to know that Omar exists. Totally worth watching this show just for this character. I don't think I'll watch the show again anytime soon but I will watch clips of Omar on Youtube a lot.

Aggretsuko season 3

This is my new favorite anime at the moment. I wish other romance anime was like this one. I hope they at least take notes because Aggretsuko is very good at showing how complicated relationships can be. It's not the same bullshit drama other romance anime continues to do. These characters actually grow and have hard conversations and realizations. Plus, it has good comedic moments that don't seem childish and out of place. The only thing bad about this show is the episodes are only 15 minutes and there's only 10 episodes. I'm excited for season 4.

The Signal (spoilers)

I love the idea I read online about the characters being in a computer because of some clues that things didn't load right or at all if it wasn't expecting the boy to go there. Like, the toilets not having wall separators, the clock not working, the road not being finished and food not being in cans.

Also, his friends never existing but being loaded from his memories and thoughts of what he thinks happened to his friends. So, that's why his friend survives the explosion and a shot to the back and why the men try to keep his arm on the bed when he's trying to reach for his girlfriend's hand. She's not really there.

Or he could have just been taken to a different planet but I like the idea that he's inside a computer more because I love AI shit so much.

The Night Clerk (mid spoilers)

I enjoyed how smart this character really is. That ending was such a good way to show us that he was one step ahead the whole time.

Transformers War for Cybertron

I love this series so much. There's more female Transformer characters in this one than their are in other Transformers shows. So, I hope the next season adds more females because it really needs it anyway. There's only 3... Come on now!

The Witcher books

Loved it.

The only thing I hated was Geralt having sex with a 17 year old girl. Fuck the creator for that. It's like he was thinking, "This is a world where magic, monsters, and elves exists but I want to make sure the story's views the treatment of girls are historically accurate so I can justify my male characters having sex with teens."
Fuck you.

Vampyr

This game was such a prize. I'm shocked that I didn't hear much about it. The story and characters are so good and well written. I think because of the graphics that it looks like it's just an okay game. But the music and camera shots did really well adding to dramatic scenes.

I could see this being a good TV show or movie for sure.

After Party

I loved this game. It's so funny and after watching Lucifer on Netflix, i felt like it had the same feel. This game was such a joy to play.

Gris

Very relaxing game and very pretty.

Journey

Finally got to play this and it was just okay. I should have played this when it just came out to really enjoy it for it's time. But I'm still happy I played it.

The Long Dark

This game had a cute update. It added Canadian snacks. Plus, there was a temporally a harder winter mode. I beat it and it was fun. Can't wait for episode 4 to come out too.

Breath of the Wild

Another game I'm finally getting to play. It's good but I'm finding it hard to play it for hours like I can with other games. I only play for like an hour then stop for the day. I have no idea why I can't play it longer. Maybe because the story isn't that interesting or because I can't keep using the weapons forever. I don't know but it is fun in short bursts.

Persona 5

This game started off strong but I started to not enjoy it after their upperclassmen joined the team. The story went down hill from there because I found her character so annoying from the start. And I didn't like how the story tried to make her seem so much smarter than everyone else when she just gave commonsense advice and plans. Plus, Mona wont shut up.

Lucifer season 5

It was great seeing the main character again. The rest of the show is shit tho. Bad writing and bad acting from other characters. Lucifer's character is the only reason I keep watching.

Working Out

I feel good about doing this. It's been 3 weeks now and I hope I don't give up. I thought about doing a before and after picture but I hate my body right now that I can't stand taking a picture of it.

Bad Stuff

The Last Of Us Part 2 - I did a whole blog post about this game so read that if you want to know why I hated this 5 out of 5 game. I'm still hurt about what this game gave me.

Blue Reflection - This game is $60 but looks so much cheaper than Persona 5, which was a $20 game. Such a let down. I'm glad I got it on sale but I still feel like I over paid.

The Last of Us Part 2 (Full Spoilers)

The most disappointing piece of entertainment I have ever experienced. Way more depressing than I expected. It actually hurt me. My heart felt so heavy playing through this game. I paid full price so I needed to finish it to get my money's worth and I had so much hope that the story would give something back for this pain I was feeling. Even if it's just the ending being happy. But it gave me nothing. No happiness for the characters I developed love for from playing the first game over and over again. (DLC as well.)

I love the first game so much. I wish I had played it one last time before playing the second game because now I know their future.

It's not because Joel died that I didn't like this game. It's how he died and why he died.
I would rather he had died by being bit and Ellie just travels with her friends because she's grieving. While she travels she meets new friends, new adventures and new enemies. But no. Ellie's screen time is cut in half for a new character. The torturer.

The gameplay controls, graphics, voice acting and music are all really good.
It's a 5 out of 5 game that I hate.
It's a good written story that I hate.

I feel like these characters deserved a better story. Ellie even more.

I hate how she had to share her story with a new character. I wanted to just play as Ellie.
Abby's side of the story should have been a DLC. I'm not into her at all.
She's a cool looking character that I hate.
Her character model could have been Dina, Ellie's girlfriend. Or Abby could have just been a new friend that Ellie meets but instead we get a revenge story....

I wanted a better adventure for Ellie but the creators didn't.

Anyways, here are some stuff I agree with that others have said (who aren't toxic bigots):

Brainstorming a character and story

Character personality

This is a woman character who's no pushover but is also not immature and loud.
This is important because I'm sick of all these overtly polite girl characters in series who gives respect to assholes who don't deserve it. And I'm sick of loud, comic relief female characters.

So, this character, doesn't care about "being the bigger person" she cares about standing up for herself. She's doesn't go out of her way to be rude or anything but if someone is unnecessarily rude to her then she'll bite back.

I want to see more mature, badass female main characters in stories about romance.

I want to see a paragade/renegon Femshep in a love/drama stories.
I want to see a Jessica Jones (netflix) in a love/drama stories.
I want to see a female version of The Punisher character in a love/drama stories.

Also, she's 30 or older. I'm sick of high schoolers and twenty-teens as main characters.
And she had a happy childhood. Only experienced real problems after collage.

Story plot and setting

She plays virtual reality games with sentient characters that don't know their world is a simulation.

Her avatar is invincible so the characters either think that she's a god, very skilled/strong or just very lucky/blessed.

Many of the video games she plays have sentient life in it that don't know they are made of code. She doesn't know if the developers know about it.

Her real life is normal so anytime she wants to feel important, she puts on her VR and lives in one of the single player games, with sentient beings, until she has to eat, sleep or go to work.

Time doesn't pass in the games when she turns it off. So, when she plays again, it's like she never left. She doesn't miss a moment of hanging out with her AI friends.

She never tells them what they really are because she doesn't want them to be upset and question if they are real. Because they're stuck inside a game, she doesn't know how to set them free into the real world. So, why tell them about another world if she can't prove it or get them there?

She just enjoys meeting new characters and becoming important to them and helping them have fun with the life they have. It's easier to trust and make friends and relationships with them because she can find out everything about them at the end of a story plot/main game plot vs becoming friends with people in real life.

When she beats the game story and replays it, she'll sometimes tell characters their future and try to change it to create a different adventure.

(I'm just making notes of a story that would be cool to see made.)

Spring 2020

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

I'm glad it got so popular that people who thought it seemed boring, tried it out after hearing about it so much and ended up loving it. I always get annoyed with gamers not giving games like Animal Crossing a chance.

Scrubs podcast

I'm so happy this exists! The two main actors are actually good friends and are talking about their time on Scrubs. They're rewatching the show one ep at a time and it's so funny!

Control

I finally got to own this game and play it myself. I watched a full playthrough when I couldn't afford it and I loved it. Playing it has made me love it even more. It's really fucking fun to play and I love the main character so much. I played the DLC and I love how she's become so cocky about how powerful she is. I can't wait for more.

Observation

All I knew about this game is that there's a woman who teams up with an AI. I had no idea I played as the AI! I was so happy! Plus, this game ended up being really good, story wise. I loved the ending. I need more games like this, please!

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

I'm still playing through it but so far it's really fun and I like my female character. I've never played an Assassin's Creed game but when I seen it on sale and seen that I can choose to be a female throughout the whole game, I just had to get it.
I love too that you can romance everyone that the game lets you and it's not exclusive to one character. You can have multiple lovers without them getting mad because they never find out.

I wish other games did that, because the only other games I can think of that comes close is Mass Effect Andromeda. You can romance a reporter and a historian without it conflicting with your main romantic interest.  I need more games to give us secret lovers, please.

Better Call Saul season 5

The first series where I paid to own it digitally. I just really wanted to marathon this show and seen it was on sale in the Playstation store, just needed to get it then and there. It's during a stressful time and I needed another distraction from the world.
I really loved this season! Can't wait for season 6!

Never Have I Ever

This show was a nice treat, its so funny! The adults are funnier than the kids but still worth a watch. The mom is my favorite character, so funny! I hope season 2 holds up when it comes out.
Also, the music in this show is so good.

The Leftovers rewatch

First Time Show podcast is back! I'm so happy to be watching The Leftovers with them.
I just wish one of the hosts would chill out. They're too negative about the show and it's annoying. Other than that, I am enjoying the podcast.

Spring cleaning

My place was becoming a mess and I finally got into the mood of organizing stuff and my place feels so much bigger. I still have more to clean but it's looking good and it makes me feel better seeing it so nice and neat.

Indie games

I finally got to play some indie games I had in my library:

Celeste - I LOVED that this game had "god mode" I got to just enjoy the story without having to solve puzzles and dying over and over. More side scrollers should have in game cheats as an option to make the game feel relaxing.

Mutazione - This was a really interesting game. I loved getting to know the history of the island and the people on it. And having choices on how to respond to characters was fun. I do think this game was longer than it needed to be but I still would recommend this game to others.

A Short Hike - This felt like a short Zelda game. The main story is to climb a mountain to make a phone call but you can explore around and solve little quests for characters. It was really cute and relaxing.

Unravel - I've been wanting to play this game for a long time and finally got to when I seen it on sale. It was so good at making me not think about the world. My favorite levels were snowy ones.

Bad Stuff

Virus - people just being fucking selfish and not staying away from crowds and not wearing masks. White people even went out to protest, with guns, against wearing masks and having to stay home. Fuck people.

Cops killing people - And people are still on the side of the cops. I'm sick of this. I had conversations with friends and family and it's stressful. Fuck tone policing.

Other bad stuff are not as big as the two I wrote about above but here they are:

Dead To Me season 2 - It tried too hard to fit in the funny moments while I felt like season 1 did a better job at picking moments to be funny.

Spinning Out - Started out strong then it gets cheesy at the end.

Outlander Season 4 and 5 - Too much rape and war. Think of something different for fucks sake!
