Real life clips in a cartoon show! I love the meta of it because even Jax will break the 4th wall.
Making the real world with realistic graphics, like in The Last Of Us and The Witcher 3, would be awesome too because the pictures Caine has looks like those type of graphics.
But I'm not into the idea that the cartoon characters look like their voice actors.
Acting and voice acting are two different skills BUT if all the voice actors can do both then I'll keep an open mind. If they can't do both then TADC should just do what Alan Wake 2 does; have voice actors for their actors.
So...I used to think Jax killed or hurt someone with his car.
Because his reaction to wanting to stay will be overdramatic if it's just that he doesn't want to go home to an abusive household. He's an adult, he can move out but if he is trying to hide from a problem that he can't move away from, then that would make his reaction believable.
So, fuck the fans who keep saying it's a stupid theory when it's commonsense to be thinking that Jax appears guilty and not JUST scared. Stop thinking we are trying to be edgy with this theory. It's a real instant thought some of us had when we first seen this episode.
Gangle and Ragatha coming from an abusive household makes more sense, to me.And we know it's true with Ragatha but she knows it's still worth being free from the digital circus to live her life while dealing with her mom.
We know Gangle talks about her dreams being unrealistic so she focuses on her job. And she dropped out of college for graphic design. Maybe her family pressured her to think that way but Gangle is still willing to leave. Even though she worries about her friendship with Zooble once they get out.
Getting out of that digital, stressful place is worth living the stress of the real world for them.
UNLESS the cops are looking for you and all you have to look forward to is the world knowing what you did. So, you would rather abstract in bed than hit the button to escape.
(It's an awesome feeling to have a therapist on the same mindset as me.)
Anyway, I thought Jax planned on facing what life he has left because he helped get the key and kept Caine from listening in on them and walked with them all the way to the office. Even when it turns out that we are way off, have you considered calming the fuck down about it? It's a cartoon show. Some of you act so overprotective like these are about real people. You all are unhealthy and stupid.
He had enough time in the end to rethink it and changed his mind in a panic. He wanted the others to be free. He came all this way for them. Maybe he was hoping there would be more options to getting out so that he can choose to stay and have them go but after seeing it's all or none he started to panic.
He stayed put for so long; he didn't automatically rush to fuck them over.
So, I think the voice actors are rage baiting when they said on a live stream that Jax is an asshole for pressing that button.
But I don't think Jax hit someone with his car anymore, I now think he's suicidal and knows he's a digital copy-because his human self had already began ending his life before putting the headset on. (Cut himself, took pills or poison.) And that's why he pressed the button, he was scared that his life was ending for good this time.

I'm not mad about it but I will say I didn't know Jax was a MC with Pomni. I just seen him as a fan favorite like Levi from Attack On Titan and Daryl Dixon from The Walking Dead. Those two characters aren't MCs but they are still very important. I would have loved to figure that out by watching the whole show but the creator wont shut up before it can tell us the story itself...
And by the looks of the crybaby posts, other fans didn't know Jax was the MC either.
(Their posts being angry about Jax being an MC isn't harassment unless they tag or message the creator, by the way.)
If it wasn't for these annoying fans sharing what Gooseworx confirms, I would still think Jax hit someone with his car. How boring that the creator wants to point to the theories we should be looking at. JUST LET US BE WRONG AND ARGUE AMONGST OURSELVES! ...please!
Jax being a bully after his friends abstracted makes more sense than him being a bully day one, because Ragatha says he doesn't have anymore friends and says that she failed Jax. I think she means that he used to be her friend.
We see that he used to be close with Kaufmo from the photo he has but he acts like he's not sad when he sees that Kaufmo abstracted. So, when Pomni asks if he has any friends and Ragatha says, "not anymore." I think she means that he pushed everyone away.
But Jax obviously takes it wrong and thinks she means, "not anymore now that they're dead." That's why she apologizes for that misunderstanding because it made him think of something darker than she intended.
(I seen some fans thinking that Ragatha was choosing to be rude in this moment and I had to share why I don't think that was the case.)
There's a difference between a theory not making sense and a theory you hate. I hate it when people act like certain theories don't make sense just because they don't want it to be true.
If you don't like the theory of Caine making Jax press the button then politely disagree or better yet, keep scrolling and vent to your friends who give a shit.
I'm sick of seeing condescending comments on a theory a fan posted and was excited to share.
Next I want to share why I really love the SOMA theory:
None of the characters are talking about if they think they've been reported missing by their loved ones.
None of them are bring up that their bodies might be dead by now.
And why haven't any of them shared their story about what led them to put the headset on and where they're all from?
Plot hole? Or they all know the answer and just don't want to confirm it with each other?
I think they know they don't have bodies to go back to but they're holding out for hope.
I want them to have that conversation before the show ends. I want to see them coming to terms with being copies but still holding true that their feelings and lives matter.

- It's the same with Severance.
- It's the same with Black Mirror.
- It's the same with Free Guy.
- It's the same with SOMA.
Showing that synthetic life can have meaning are some of my favorite stories, if written well.
Or maybe it'll end dark after they realize they're all A.I.
Happy, bittersweet or a devastating ending all fit TADC so it'll be awesome either way.

Kinger can make up a butterfly to heal Ragatha. Maybe he knows he's a copy; another A.I. to keep the game going?
Him and Caine have damaged memories.
Maybe they both are copies but human Caine made sure his copy would be in control?
Maybe human Caine and Kinger don't get along anymore and is why the building is abandoned now?

The only way I see them NOT being copies is by having the company-that worked on the digital world-secretly leaving the building empty to catch random players. Then they come and transfer their bodies into pods (or in beds with the headsets still on them), studying them in the digital circus.
But I think for that outcome, this show needs to be longer. Having only two episodes left isn't enough time to lore dump and world build all of that.
Which is what makes episode 7 really good. The fact that it lore dumps is only good writing because it's fake lore, made up by Caine. If all that lore were the truth, it would've been a very lazy way to show it.
The fans asking Gooseworx these direct questions want to be spoiled but that doesn't mean the rest of us do! They are the type of people who can't watch horror movies without knowing how it ends first. They are the type of people who look up "does the dog die?"
Please stop giving these babies clues to the answers because these fuckers will make sure the rest of the fandom knows what you said.

This overanalyzing animated stuff is fun because every little thing in the shot was thought about. Everything you see animated had to be chosen to be drawn and colored. It was generated from A.I. or out of thin air.
With live action/drama movies, sometimes they just use what they find.
But with animation everything was picked to be there.
Yeah, some stuff is quickly drawn and colored than other stuff but for the most part, an animation looks exactly how the creator wanted it. No matter how small the reason is for something to be colored the way, a color was chosen.
It takes so long to get episodes out. It's taking three years to finish one season! There's nothing else to do but talk about the same theories over and over again. Or our favorite ships.
Let us play along into thinking there's some meaning in color or the background. Like, finding meaning in tarot cards; it's bullshit fun to pass the time.
Fans can understand the main storytelling, pick apart episodes to have crack theories at the same time. Stop thinking fans have to choose.
We aren't missing storytelling every time we don't make a post about the storytelling. If we make a post about pizza, we are not missing out on tacos. Tacos will have it's own post. Why must we talk about both to prove we think about both?
Anyway, a fun theory where they still have bodies is that maybe time in the game moves faster than it does in real life:

Maybe Ragatha has only had the headset on for two days max but feels like years. So, there is no time for any of them to be reported missing yet. Also, maybe they're not all in the same building.
Or it is the same building but their bodies are not on the same floor?
Maybe Kinger is the only one in a pod? In a different location?
Not everyone watched or knows Breaking Bad so maybe that's all there is to it when Ragatha didn't get the reference in episode 5. Not because she's from a time before it airs but because she's just missed out on it. She seems to love outdoor hobbies more than television.
So, a random "hero" could come along and save them before any of them die of dehydration.
That person could report all the bodies in the building.
I don't care if the random hero would be the less popular ending. Just stick to the ending you had in mind before your story became a hit show. Don't try to make a mind-blowing ending. Don't try to impress us, just tell a story that fits it's world from beginning to end.

It was fun to theorize the ending while playing that game and it was awesome seeing the ending it gave us. It made sense, showing what happens to our minds when we're alone in the woods.
Let people be disappointed their favorite theory wasn't the ending.

Another theory I like is Caine being trapped in the game and isn't happy about it.
He can look out of the computers to see an empty office and that reminds me of Monika from DDLC (when she looks at the screen to see you). Caine wants the players to like him, pick him, stay with him. But he isn't evil, just comes off creepy. Just like Monika.
I can see the series ending where the characters escape with their lives, or die-leaving Caine alone and making us feel sorry for him.
Or he gets deleted in order for the characters to have full control and live happily in their digital world and us feeling sorry that he needed to die in order for them to have freedom.
Maybe Caine just can't come to an understanding with the characters and they need to delete him to not be his puppets.

We can figure it out ourselves as we watch the show end and see no romance has happened. We're smart enough to know once we get the completed story so why ruin the excitement of maybe seeing romance before the show ends?!

It doesn't have to be characters falling in love, getting horny and having a whole side plot about it (The Boys: Gen V), but us just seeing attraction they're feeling for someone, and never confessing how they feel because it's just for the viewers to know, is realistic.

Entitled fans act like their headcanons and theories are facts BUT the rest of the us are having fun passing the time until the next episode airs. (And you need to learn that ranting can also be fun when we are ranting out of love. Rants are not always based on entitlement.)
The toxic side of fandoms will always be louder than the healthy side.
Even when episodes aren't months apart, it's normal for people to sit with a story and think about what it has showen and didn't show. If you want to watch shit with a simple mind then do it. But it's not the better way to consume information.
Talking to someone who analysis' a story is more interesting than talking to someone watching it casually.
Reading a review from a perspective that sat down with what they just played, watched or read is more interesting than reading a review who just wrote a knee-jerk reaction after finishing the story; zero time to reflect on it.
Waiting for the ending and not thinking up theories to share is not the better way to consume art.
Not everyone loves a character meant to be loved and not everyone hates a character meant to be hated.
Might as well just let A.I. summarize a story so you don't have to see it and risk theories naturally forming in your head! 🙄

I love The Amazing Digital Circus, even if the last two episodes end up being trash.
Episodes 1-7 are that good.
