Glasses sponsor story from Brett ๐
8:48 Steve doesn't do standup.
I can't get into standup but if Steve or Brittany Broski started to do it, I would go to their shows. Brittany Broski for sure.
I think this spring she has surpass Steve Zaragoza for me as my favorite comedian. Steve has been my favorite since SourceFed so this is a big realization for me... I'm sorry I had to share that here but it's important because I think those two would get along and I want her to join the EZU someday.
I think Owen and Brett would love her too. I can imagine an alternate universe with them falling in love with her humor, becoming her friends and doing an aftershow for her podcast. She would fit right into Dynamic Banter.
Next they talk about Adam Sandler movies. I remember being a big fan of him when I was young and my parents thought that meant I had a crush on him. I didn't but when I denied it, it sounded like I was lying out of embarrassment but really I was embarrassed they thought that.
I hated when my parents didn't understand me and I was too young to know the words to use to make them understand. Just because I found Adam Sandler funny, didn't mean I fantasied about him.
(I just went on a detailed rant about them but deleted it. It's too personal to share but I want ya'll to know it felt good typing it out.)
I'm happy to learn from Brett that Adam Sandler is a nice person. I haven't kept up with a lot of his recent movies but I enjoyed the murder mystery comedy movies he did with Jennifer Aniston. They actually made me laugh. (I had to google her name, I just know her from Friends.)
18:01 They talk about Jesse's podcast.
I've been thinking about it and I don't want them to ever tell me if they find this blog and read my posts. I thought I wanted that but I feel so free with my thoughts and can share my real feelings about everyone in the EZU.
If you read this, Brett, don't tell me. I know I emailed you but I regret it now. Not a big regret because I feel like even if you talk about this blog, I'll get through it and be alright.
I love being a fan. I don't have the intention of ever becoming friends with people I look up to because I love not holding back my feelings on them when I'm mad or disappointed. I wish other fans can understand that it's okay to be mad while still being a fan of them.
Other fans will drop them on the first red flag and not care to understand that people are messy. I just really love how real Steve and Brittany are. They wear their personalities on their sleeves. When they are conflicted with their feelings on something, they say so. They try to be good people and that's rare ๐งก
There's also the other ugly side of fans where they believe the people they look up to can do no wrong. I hate stan culture because those fans would hate my blog. They are the reason I rarely participate on Reddit or Discord. Fans can't nitpick anything about the shit they love or they will be labeled as a "hater" no matter how polite the complaint is.
But some criticism is needed because sometimes having a microphone and a following can go to your head. It's good to understand that some outside prospective can help reevaluate ourselves. For Brittany to understand that not all her fans are White and American. And for the boys to understand not all their fans are cis and straight.
And I think they all do a pretty good job at remembering that when we show ourselves in their comments, emails, and photo tags. And know that some of their words can be ignorant. It's not a deal breaker for me to hear ignorance come out of them because I know their hearts are in the right place. But every fan has their limit. I get it.
All this to say, I love being a fan of them because finding good people to follow is getting harder to come by. And I don't want to stop blogging just because they find this and get mad that I rant about them in some of my posts. It's all out of love ✌ Instead of being defensive, just listen to how you sometimes come off.
21:58 That is actually cool to imagine. I've been there twice and it's nice thinking about me being in someone's photo.
31:35 My favorite board game was Sorry! and Mouse Trap.
Sorry! was simple and easy to play, the main reason my family loved it was because it was fun to yell "SORRY" as you aggressively push the other player's pieces out of the way. It was funny because the person had to get up to go find where their piece landed.
I remember playing it with my cousins and the adults were asleep and we would talk low until we had to yell, sorry. I miss that so much. We did get in trouble but the most that would happen is we would get yelled at ๐ It was rare that we did that. Maybe three times we played it while people were sleeping, it was so funny.
Mouse Trap was just fun to set up.
Owen thinks audiobooks are not that good for your brain like reading is. I don't know if he still thinks that since this podcast is like 8 years old but audiobooks is like listening to podcasts. Audiobooks has got to be better for your brain than podcasts, right?!
So, if you're not a reader, just listen to the audiobook on a library app so that you can check out so much for free. A series I'm really into is, The Murderbot Diaries. It's a dramatized adaptation with music, sound effects and voice actors for each character. I really recommend it if you love sci-fi action with light comedy. I love reading but I can't imagine this story being as fun if I were just reading it myself.
48:36 Dynamic Banter should've brought back reading fanfictions of themselves for just their 400th episode. Or for their Patreon. These were great.
